Hype? Lance Lynn is 10-3 (better record), 3.23 ERA (lower) and 92 strikeouts (a few less and born and made in america with less experience at the higher level) and the cardinals paid no where near what Texas paid for Darvish.

It's not yet July 1. Smile

In looking strictly at Darvish's set salary, he is making $5.5 million this year. His pace certainly warrants that amount of money. However when factoring in the posting fee and backloading of contract, there needs to be significant improvement. He leads the AL in walks, and has a WHIP of nearly 1.4. He has an ERA+ of 122, which is very good, but a WAR of 1.9 which is good, but not in consistent translation with his ERA+.

The numbers he is putting up are very good. They're All-Star worthy and they're certainly ROY worthy. But they aren't $100 million worthy. Not yet, at least.
