Hello folks,

If anyone is using the Zepp tool, are you struggling with the attack angle measurement?  I am aware of what the attack angle measures (bat path slightly down, or slightly up, at impact), but it does not seem to be consistent. This is the only measurement my son is struggling to be consistent with.  Watching the actual path of the ball off the bat, further confuses what the Zepp tool is telling us, as far as attack angle.  Any Zepp expertise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

My son could not get an accurately measured attack angle.  Due to how he loads, he has some extra hand movement in there that loops a bit, Zepp started measuring and going forward when he wasn't actually going forward (was still in the load phase).  So his actual swing would look like he was going forward a bit and then down, and then bottoming out and back up all the way around his front hip.  Attack angle was always negative, when it clearly wasn't the case.  Kind of hard to explain, it would be easier to just show a swing, but we basically had to look at his swing plane from his front hip perspective.  It was off by about 45 degrees which skewed the attack angle measurement.

I don't think zepp is that accurate either ( especially time to impact) but could he actually swing down? I also thought I swung up because obviously I was finishing high so the swing would go up, but the graphic showed that my swing was turning up only about 10 inches past contact. I only had that issue on low pitches and was able to work it out with zepp by getting to the low point earlier ( behind the rear hip).

He was not actually swinging down because we checked using coaches eye at the same time.  He was bottoming behind the ball so should have had a slightly upper attack angle.  It was simply in the way that he loads, Zepp read it as moving forward when it was actually up and back and around.  Low pitches (esp away) will be much harder to have an upward attack angle.  I still think it's a useful tool, just have to figure out how to use it.  For example, a quicker time to impact (within a certain bounds) was bad for my son because it meant he was going straight down to the ball.  Very good time to impact, but attack angle was bad.  Using slow motion swing analysis along with Zepp really helped.
