TR first of all I know way more about Duke baseball program than you do. Used to work in the athletic department at Duke before Hiller was there. HIller got the job because he was friends with the AD certain not because of his record at UNC Asheville, He had a losing record there too. They had no problem recruiting top talent at Duke. Can someone give me solid advice about choosing a summer team 16u. My son tried out for two good teams. CBA Rancho and Trosky Kali. He has a great chance. How do I choose? Are there any questions I should ask besides, of course, logistics. We would have to travel either way. And also be in a position of saying a “small” no to summer school ball.

Another book many on this site will enjoy is "Senior Year: A Father, A Son, and High School Baseball" by Dan Shaughnessy. Dan is a sports columnist for the Boston Globe. Is Travel Ball a necessity?
Let's say a kid is on varsity his sophomore year and doesn't play much. Doesn't play travel ball in the summer but plays with his HS summer team. Then he breaks out and has a huge junior year, but does the same thing again next summer, not playing travel ball. What are the chances of this kid getting recruited? I coach a legion team in upstate NY. Roster is composed of 1-3 of the best players from 7+ towns, basically an all-star team for the area. How do I keep all players driven to keep playing when playing time will likely be less than what they have been?
