Re: inner elbow pain 13 yr old
I am sorry that your 13 year old had to have surgery. One question for you. Your son is 13, had issues. Why in the world didn't you just shut it down after baseball? Why didnt you just give it a rest?

Re: inner elbow pain 13 yr old
The injury occurred in the spring football game. It was a freak accident. Not only does he play baseball but he also plays football and soccer. I don't think kids at this age should be playing one sport only. They need to be well rounded athletes.

Very glad to hear the news is good. Best of luck to your son in the rehab process--it can be a grind, but is very important. I have spent many hours keeping both my kids company while they did PT. I'd rather they hadn't been injured of course, but in retrospect we had some excellent conversations while they were doing reps or icing afterwards.

Does anyone hear know of anyone who has dealt with a dislocated throwing elbow?

Re: Upper Bicep Pain When Batting
When I don’t feel any pain should I be doing any strengthening workouts for my arms for prevention?

Upper Bicep Pain When Batting
I have been doing some BP lately and whenever I try to do a heavy swing, I always get a sharp pain in my upper bicep that lasts for a few days then goes away and then comes back at my next bp session. Should I be worried about this or can it be fixed with just a better batting form? I’ve noticed that it doesn’t hurt as much when I let go of the bat with one hand after making contact. I get the pain where my upper bicep and shoulder meet. Thank you.

Strongly urge you see a sports medicine specialist. Let us know where you are from and I’m quite certain someone on the boards can at least give you a starting point.

I agree with Senna. Probably going to need some PT and ease up on the curls for a while.

Re: Upper Bicep Pain When Batting
I'm no PT, but if anything I'd do light weight or just skip biceps for a while. For years I was using 45's for bicep curls. Then one day my arm was sore and it kept coming back every time I worked out. I don't know if it was the curls or pullups (I stopped those completely). I started curling with 25's and haven't felt pain since. If you are feeling pain something is probably inflamed and heavy weights will not help. I'd still take Senna's advice and see a professional. If there is a tear...

Re: The #1 Strength technique to prevent Arm Injury
Dr. McKenzie, if you are still available, i'd like to discuss my son's Avulsion fracture of left ASIS. He's a 14y.o. and any possible rehab suggestions you might have. Thx, Chesley Adams

Chesley, if you hover over Dr. McKenzie's username above, it shows that he has not logged on here since 2017 so this is probably not a good way to contact him. I looked to see if the website he posted a link to is active, but it is down. A quick Google shows that he has a new website up here, but it seems to be 100% dedicated to selling his book and doesn't have a way to contact him. https://unleashpitchingvelocity.com/ He does have a Twitter account, so a Direct Message there might work.
