Interference with Stalker Sport 2
Has anyone had any experience with things interfering with the readings on a Stalker Sport 2? I've been using mine in my basement where I have fluorescent lighting and I'm getting lower readings than I've gotten on my college coaches gun. I know the manual says fluorescent lighting can cause interference but wasn't sure how much it affects it. Thanks

Hi all, I'm new to the forum. I'm just reaching out to the community if anyone currently or had similar experiences. My son is a HS freshman and plays multi sports. We let him play the sports he likes, but his always been passionate with track field and baseball since middle school. Yes, the Stalker Sport 2 seems to read about 1.0-1.5 MPH slower at 80+ MPH in our experience compared to a Stalker 2 Pro (the main scout gun these days). I've tested these products in so many different ways anyone else would go insane (various JUGS, Stalkers, Trackmans, Rapsodos, etc). We have industrial fluorescent lighting but I'm not actually sure that's the issue. I think the Stalker 2 Pro is just a better / hotter gun.

I'd say 1 MPH is a bit high. Sometimes it's dead on. The average overall is probably slightly below 1 MPH. We gunned a pro pitcher with our Stalker Sport 2 and he sat 92-94 but when we had the same gun on him for scouts, he was sitting 93-95 on the Stalker Sport 2 and 94-96 touching 97 on the Stalker Pro 2. So there's a difference, but it MIGHT only be important at 90+ MPH. It may read 70-75 MPH just fine. I am not sure.

If you search you will find threads on playing multiple sports. My son played varsity soccer and baseball. He thought he was going to play varsity basketball after being the starting point guard on the freshman team. The varsity coach cut him from the program for never making “optional” workouts or playing summer basketball. The coach said he didn’t have enough time to put the proper focus on a third sport. Welcome to the forum. Yes, I would say most regulars here have had similar experience. Regarding multiple sports in HS, it is great to let them play the sports that they enjoy. Whether multiple sports is realistic or not and for how long depends on the talent of the student athlete, the size, strength and depth of the HS program and whether the sports cross over at the same time of year. HS sports usually demand full commitment at least to one sport at a time. Excelling in HS sports usually...

My son also plays multiple sports. He is a junior this year. Just this year he dropped basketball from his list of soccer and baseball. He has always played 3 sports. We found that basketball was the least favorite if he had to drop one and he has focused much of his winter season working on increasing his strength and focusing on pitching. It all depends on which one he sees himself at when it comes time to think about playing at a higher level. I have watched my son grow in both soccer and...

Welcome. Good news: He is doing sports that require explosive development which translates well to baseball. Bad news: They are doing the same time of the year, and as far as my understanding on track it requires most of a full day to hang out for your heats. If he has national level skills in track he could keep up track and play summer ball to keep his baseball skills up in case he is one of the rare kids who could do both in college, or more likely he will probably have to chose one or...

Baseball and track together will not work in college. The seasons conflict. The few college multi sport athletes generally play one sport in the fall and one in the spring. Usually football in the fall and baseball or track in the spring.

Like anything in life, the greater you are the more options you have. Billy Hamilton 6.1-6.2 sixty types can do track & Baseball in college. If they insisted on it in the recruiting process, there would be a D1 that would step up and make it happen. for most mere mortals? No chance
