Frogs - Does this apply to some of us

His lifetime dream is to play baseball. We move from Hawaii to Kansas two years ago. Re: Anyone know about or have an opinion of ABI(American Baseball Institute)
The website is horrible, I know that one shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but seriously, it needs an overhaul. As far as I know they have no affiliation with the cardinals and that stff was from a while back, I am pretty sure. The stuff with the cardinals were taken at their training facility (cardinals). I did some checking, there are really very few they have worked with that have been successful, remember that Josh Hamilton had the talent to begin with, you can't take a frog and turn...

The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower. A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants.... The race began.... Re: Bruises and Scars
I catch my pitchers and they are starting to beat up my hands. A couple of them have nice, hard, heavy sinkers that just kill your thumb. My shins are OK because I have (mostly) perfected the "frog dropped on a hot griddle" leap out of the way for balls in the dirt. However, I did take one off my ankle bone once that hurt.

Re: mom of HS player needs advice
First, thank you all for your candid advice- I am tough and can take it I want to do what is best for my son- I have learned that the consensus is that I stay out of it, and I am glad to hear that. I have run a hundred scenarios through my mind and most are not taking the high road and that is not what I want to teach Joe. At the same time, I don't like unfair treatment of any child (the teacher in me speaking ! OK, to clarify and answer questions: - We live in the Upstate of SC - Joe is a...

Re: Suggestions from Red Sox fans
We stayed at the Marriott Copeley; a client has connections and got us rooms at half price. The walk to the stadium was only a mile or so, and I was jogging distance from Frog Pond, Boston Public Park, etc. A great experience. My sons were up later than my wife and I one night at a place called Whiskeys. Just outside the front door, a rather inebriated Sox fan yelled, for no good reason, "Markakis s(rymes with ducks)". One of his companions tapped him on the shoulder and pointed back-by...

Re: Vernon beats Englewood
If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his butt. Vernon pitched their little sophmore against Englewood and they didn't get anyone past second, and only 3 people on base(a bunt single, ha). Don't post just cause you got beat by a team who lost 5 starters and you ten runned them last year. Vernon was also missing a starter if we are going to go there though. You may have a better team than Vernon, but you didn't that day.

Re: Miller or Buck
I like Jon Miller a lot. He is easy listening for me. Based on my four years of high school Espanol classes, I believe Miller more often than most pronounces names the way they ought to be spoken. Joe Buck is rather boring although I like the fact he does not try to overshadow the game. Really like Cal Ripken and Tony Gwinn. Really like Ron Darling as well. Tim McCarver and Joe Morgan annoy me. Dennis Eckersly also annoys me. I like the ESPN crew of analysts although Eric Young has sort of a...

Re: Do Kids Change?
Simple response. I have seen players who moved up the ladder, down the ladder, and those who are still stuck on the same rung. I have watched kids who dominated in youth take a back seat in high school and although less often, I have seen players who matured and developed physically, leap frog those who played in front of them in youth baseball. The exception, in my experience, has been the really good hitter. The players I have watched over the years who could consistently barrel up even...

Re: Are you suffering Baseball Withdrawl?
When baseball's bust, it's fun to study up on your animal facts: Emus have double-plumed feathers, and they lay emerald/forest green eggs. The fingerprints of koala bears are virtually indistinguishable from those of humans, so much so that they could be confused at a crime scene. Roosters can't crow if they can't fully extend their necks. The underside of a horse's hoof is called a frog. The frog peels off several times a year with new growth. The placement of a donkey's eyes in its' heads...

Men are so stupid! Men are like frogs, a frog and a goose were trying to figure out how the frog could migrate south with the geese so he wouldn't have to be covered in mud all winter. The frog say's, "I've got it figured out,(isn't that so typical?) I've got a big mouth so I'll just hang on to your foot with my mouth"! The goose said, "that sounds like a great idea, but you have to remember to keep your mouth shut"! No problem say's Mr Frog,(he's important now) that's a piece of cake. So...

Re: Predictions In 8-5A
if cedar hill loses their last two and lamar wins their last two and if sam beats arlington then there is a three way tie for fourth. (and if a frog had wings...) i would go out on a limb and say its martin, duncanville, arlington. if lamar beats either arlington or martin and cedar hill loses their last two then there is a tie for fourth. going further out on the limb i say its cedar hill in fourth.

Are weak hips a real thing?
My 13 year old son (8th grade) has been in a strength/speed/agility/hitting program over the winter, no throwing or weight lifting, just keeping in shape. The program is in its last month and last night the fitness trainer pulled me aside to show me how my son moved differently than ALL the other kids. When the trainer called for frog jumps most kids jumped forward like a frog would, my sons legs started wide like a frog but by the time he landed his knees were almost touching...

Re: College Football Playoff 2014
Mississippi State being out creates a spot for TCU and Ohio State. I hear lots of commentary saying OSU will leap-frog TCU but that does not make any sense to me. TCU destroyed Texas and they should logically move up into contention with OSU on the outside looking in. OSU's quarterback situation should not affect decisions but it probably will. All that said, I'd like to see D1 go to at least an 8 team playoff but as human nature goes, then we'll be having these same conversations about...

Re: College Football Playoff 2014
My take. The committee needs to get out of the business of providing a top 25 every week. In fact, having a top 25 at all. It only confused the issue. I have no problem with the four that got in. I do, however, have a problem with the fact that the committe seemed to start from scratch in the last poll. They somehow thought that TCU's resume was good enough to jump them to #3 in the last week before the decision. Then, they decided that FSU, Baylor, and OSU all had more impressive wins than...

Re: How important is velocity?
Zach, No doubt velocity plays a part in getting to the next level but low velocity doesn't totally ELIMINATE your chances. My suggestions are to GET SOME INSTRUCTIONS from a knowledgeable pitching instructor and continue to develop your arm. You may have a flaw in your delivery and poor mechanics can reduce your velocity significantly. You never know what the future may hold so continue to work toward the goal of playing college baseball. I think you have a great attitude and that alone is a...

And after all the Arod hoopla, he 'settled' for $27.5M. Apparently, Boras priced themselves out of a bidding war by the $350M over 10 yrs to begin talking but with Arod's ability, he's not going unsigned. The only thing a bit surprising was the multiple attempts Arod made on his own to hook up with The Frog (Hank Steinbrenner) after Frog told them throughout that an opt-out means take a hike.. Apparently, Arod went out of his way to try and square things up with Frog so thay could open the...
