Are there any kids out there finishing their high school career at this 100 game mark?

I think it is more rare than people think. You have to start early and be injury free. Alot of good players don't play Varsity until their Junior Year.
Some teams do not play 30 games in a season. Some teams have to go far into the playoffs each year.

I think its a great accomplishment and most of these players are, and have always been the most talented kids out there. Congrats to the seniors who have had a great high school career and good luck in the future.

I am not sure if the kids or parents have even thought about this but it is fun to talk about.

Please post if you have any info on this matter.

Ok, so let's make the discussion worthwhile. I think its gotta be 5A or higher-ranking 4A schools only. The player has to appear in the game for it to count...lame-o Freshman year on the bench isn't meaningful.

Does that knock anybody out?

** OP, speaking for myself, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but you are gonna get so fried out here if it turns out you're teeing up your kid. Best of luck to you if you get busted doing that**

oldschool79 ...
what is your issue with the so called "agenda" ???
what does it matter whether we are taking about 5A/4A or other classifications...
My son is a 2013 on varsity at a 5A school, who plays every game and contributes. And I know he is not alone...
My point is that there are several freshmen (2013)that my son has played with and against over the last few years, that are playing varsity this year in 4A/5A! And yes they do play and contribute!Hopefully by the time they are winding up thier respective Sr year, they will be at or beyond the 100 game barrier.
old school and others is this so unheard of?
just wondering... perhaps the class of 2013 is raising the bar??
oh and BTW, the players that I am aware of (2013) playing varsity and contributing... seem to primarily be DBAT players who have had some outstanding coaching over the last couple of years ..
Could this be a prime factor as to why these players are playing AND contributing as freshmen...

as for my son ... his HS coach has stated he has been very well prepared for HS ball and is the most prepared/knowledgeable player as a freshmen he has had in his program ...
not sure what this DBAT connection means... but...just saying....

2013? We're discussing 2010's that have played in a 100 games. Sorry, TX Buck, that would not yet include your son. My son played in well over 100 games from 2000-2003, at his respective high school, and then played in over 100 more in college.

I might add, not at any time during the process, did I feel the need to post his personal accolades on the board. Baseball is a team sport, golf might be a better selection, for all the "list makers" on this site. Big Grin

Maybe, 3 years removed from his last game. Never had the urge to blast out a post, for his personal accolades, or worse yet, have an agenda, from the start.

Point being, most posters on this site have, or will have sons, that fall within this catagory.

Not that a big of deal "to me". If the player, respects the game and works hard. It should be an attainable goal.

I just felt the thread started with a dad, that was starting to shed a tear. There's no crying in baseball cry

Now, if it was a mom, it would be a little different.

I guess you can tell RFC3 that he is full of it.
Pass the kleenex
I didn't know this post would cause a stir to anybody. It is just a nice general question. This is a good accomplishment, it means the kid is a very good player. According to Old School, thinking a private school where only 12 kids signed up or something or a non baseball school with one decent freshman, not sure but why all the backlash here.

In my original post, I made or have not made any comments or post on my son or if I have one. I am only interested in the overall scope of high school baseball which I played and love.

But only this time, to answer the question, I will.

I do have a son in the 10th grade who will be starting his 30th game this Friday. He plays in the Fort Worth district 7-4A. I am very proud.

I put out this post in reference to Alex Rodriquez played 100 games in high school and had like .419 AVG. and 90 stolen bases. Look it up on Wikipedia.
He also batted .505 his senior year with 9HR and 36 RBI with 35-35 stolen bases in 33 games. Pretty cool
