My son 14 year old has played ball since he was 8 has always had a long swing ( casting I think is correct) I have worked with him for years now we have used Insider bat, put him up on a wall bat length away and swing to keep inside. Does all these very well take BP in cage before games does well, gets to the plate in game and begins that long slow swing, its like his swing changes when game starts if he hits it it mostly on handle. This is driving me crazy what can help him correct this problem.

It is all about muscle memory. A swing can be accomplished without a ball, or even a bat.

Determine what your sons' ideal swing should be and have him take dry swings in front of a full length mirror each and every night. My guy who is a college senior still does this routine each day. About 33 swings at 30% each night.
My eldest son had a similar issue. As he got older and stronger the long swing diminished. Lifting weights helped, along with hitting on a daily basis. The long swing does want to creep back in once in awile, but he is at the age now that he is aware of it and correct the problem himself.
Lefty...
Keep swinging it...
This may sound funny, but my son has the same problem. I saw a video on the dog chuckit (the long pole that throws a tennis ball). It explains how it helps keep hands in, giving you immediate feedback based on where the ball goes. I posted the video in a prior topic (should be near this one). Logically, seems to make sense. I bought one this weekend and he worked with it a couple times. I will keep you updated to see how it goes. I will say, that his swings looked best when the ball traveled to the top of the back of the cage. There may be something to it....

Long swing is a relative term. Many factors could cause what you describe. Bat drag being among them. The Insider Bat is a good choice to fix casting, as is a slightly modified version of Epstein's Enforcer Drill.
Sometimes the speed of the game puts a little more fear into hitter in the box.

This can cause the hitter to shift more of his weight move toward his heels vs. the strong "athletic" part of the feet.

He probably does well in his practice work because he stays "in there" with more confidence and less fear. When the weight is on the heels, the swing is effected drastically (usually casts out and slows down).

I must note that this is more common than people think.
