Sorry for the long post, just venting and getting it off my chest.  What a roller coaster ride this season was. My ‘26 kid makes varsity team in the spring. Takes him a few weeks to secure a starting position at 3B, never really played there before. Commits several errors and then coaches moves him to OF. Has a lot of success there. Then, as season goes on finally gets into the swing of things, his hitting starts clicking and hits some HR’s and gets average over .300. Then he gets hit with a 94 mph on his throwing hand. Out for 4 weeks with metacarpal fracture. Finally gets back into the line up by the playoffs and goes 1-11. Lots of swings and misses. He’s frustrated. Then summer ball starts. Playing 3B and plays solid. But the hitting, OMG. He lost his swagger. Bad approach at the plate, but then, usually one game a tournament, he’ll break out and get a HR or get player of the game or some sort of tournament accolades. I’ve been describing him as consistently in consistent. It’s been hard to watch. He has such a high ceiling but man, he’s either really high or really low. On a side note, he’s never really pitched much but this summer he threw 24 innings and only have up 10 hits and had 80% strike rate.  Threw 2 complete games. That being said, this will be the first fall season he hasn’t played his entire life. Kid is super competitive and loves playing. I know that’s baseball and he will work through it.  Going to concentrate on football, driveline and hitting lessons.

That’s all, just wanted to vent!

Noticed you are a MD. During our 1997 Area Code games in San Diego, the White Sox AC team roster were 6 pitchers who reached 95 mph. One pitcher from Ohio his father was a MD and the father had instituted to the HS Coach, a 75 pitch count during the HS games.

The local fans would "count down" from one to 75. I mentioned to the father that I agreed, however I would pitch his son the final innings of the game.
