I scored my 1st perfect game on Monday. It was pretty amazing to say the least, and strange to see how everyone reacted as the game moved from inning to inning.

My son pitched a perfect game a few days ago to win our first district championship in many years. As the game began I and everyone else just wanted a win. After 12 straight strikeouts I was looking for all strikeouts. Other parents were whispering "no one has reached base yet have they". Well after 14K's he had a come backer and he threw the batter out. 6th inning 1st batter K then went 3-2 on the 2nd but got the K and 3rd also K. That was the game due to mercy rule. Up to that point you could have cut the tension with a knife.
Congrats to the boy! Its amazing how nobody says anything, but somehow everyone knows exactly what’s going on. 
I was watching the computer as the game went on, and what I was seeing for numbers was flat out amazing me. When I wrote the play-by-play after the game, I went back and got the numbers from the game and it really blew my mind.
The kid that pitched threw only 77 pitches in a full 7 inning game, with 13 K’s, a strike percentage of 77% and a 1st pitch strike percentage of 82%! When I looked closer, I saw that of the 21 batters, 18 had a 1st pitch strike registered, but the most amazing thing of all was that of the 18, 12 went to 0-2! I’m sure somewhere there’s been a more impressive performance, but I can’t believe it’s happened very often.

A perfect game and the only batter not a strikeout is a come backer! He is not going to do much better than getting every out in a perfect game! Congrats to him, wow!

Well, this is in no way to minimize what was an awesome accomplishment but I read that Clayton Kershaw once pitched an all-strikeout perfect game in high school.

I’ve heard that as well, and if true was an amazing accomplishment. All I know is, its not in the NFHS record book. http://www.nfhs.org/recordbook....aspx?CategoryId=175
But with over 30,000 games being played every HS season, coupled with the wide possible disparity in skills, there’s bound to be some really good and some really bad performances in HS. Looking through those records pretty much proves that.
