At the risk of thread drift...
It's going to be interesting to see how things go for Madrigal and OSU this year. Is he the best hitter in the nation? Maybe, but the early talk has a bunch of pitchers and HS kids going higher than him in the MLB draft. And yet, he's a small player who doesn't play SS so just the fact that he's considered to be a top 10 or so pick is a testament to what a dangerous hitter he is. And if he does as well as he did last year, who knows?
As a SFG fan looking at his team having an early (#2) pick for a change, he is intriguing, especially since he's local, but the last thing we need is another Panik-Arroyo type player. We need a big corner IF or corner OF who hits a ton of big flies. While there are some intriguing HS players who fit that profile, they take a while to develop. I'm hoping that a college player, for example Seth Beer, has a monster year to prove he belongs in the discussion.
