Anyone familiar with a 2-2 transfer? Family issues arose and son is needed back home. He currently has straight A's and got a lot of AB's in the fall, so those aren't factors. He's on scholarship, and if I'm understanding right he would need to sit out a year? I'd really hope something out of his control doesn't cost him a season, but life happens. Anyone who's gone through this would be much appreciated.

yes, speak to the AD at the school.
Depending on the issues, he may not have to sit out a year. He would need to appeal to the NCAA. A teammate of son is going through process now. He elected to go from D1to D1, and appeal.
I assume he signed a Letter of Intent since he’s on scholarship. I also assume this is NJCAA. If so, I think he can play in the spring if he gets a signed transfer waiver from current school. I agree speak to AD of current school, and maybe spring school. If you don’t get a satisfactory answer, contact Rick at Informed Athlete to exhaust all options.
Ask current school for a release. If that request is granted you can transfer from JuCo to JuCo with no penalty and you can play right away. Some JuCo Conferences have an unwritten rule that transfers are not allowed from team to team within the Conference. Doesn’t sound like that would be a roadblock in your case.
Lots of unique situations out there. Read either of these NCAA guides as it pertains to (possibly) your unique situation.
