I am thinking that this year will be the last of the 200M payroll for the yankees. And Randy, time to retire.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching the Tigers whip the yanks. Great job on the mound today by the Tigers starter.
Best analysis I heard was the comment there was nobody like Paul O' Neil, that would get in your face no matter who you are.
The Yankees seemed to lack passion and heart. Can't wait to see how Steinbrenner tries to buy that.

Interesting that the recent Yankee dynasty team that won 4 World Series in 5 years did not have even a single 30 HR guy in their line-up. Since then they loaded up on power hitters having multiple 30+ HR guys in their line-up and nothing to show for it as the drought and trend continues. Offensively there were no super-stars on that team. They seem to have forgotten their receipe for success as they won those playoff years because they pitched well and played small ball...something that has been missing since their last WS victory 6 years ago.
I would have liked to see Melky Cabrera have a chance to play every game and Andy Phillips as well. Oh well, I knew they'd lose in the first round.
