Aaron Hookman commits to Chattanooga State

Congratulations to Aaron Hookman (Knoxville West HS) and family on his recent commitment to Chattanooga State.

Aaron's bio:
(2002, 2003 Knoxville Yard Dogs) (Blue-Gray Classic VII at the University of Tennessee) Having played the last 3 years for West HS and being one of their most solid offensive weapons over the past couple of years, Hookman is a third base/first base type of player with the ability to be a "plus" hitter at the plate. Aaron is a very good hitter who is amazingly more athletic than his look appears.

4/22/04 -- Goodpasture OF/P, Danny Pulley, signs with Volunteer State Community College.

Looks like Danny has decided to stay in Tennessee and join Brad Cobb, Dane Archer, Heath Puryear and Dustin Crabtree at Vol State.

Mark Foster of Cordova HS signed with Christian Brothers University. Foster, a SS, has a .342 BA with 18 extra base hits for a slugging % of .570 from the lead off spot in the batting order. CBU has got a gem in Foster who was an All-Metro player last season for Shelby Metro.

Marquis Dumas (Catcher) Henry County High School signs with Muscle Shoals Junior College in Alabama.

He is batting .349 and has an on base % over 600. He has a great arm and is an outstanding reciever behind the plate.

Yea, I had the pleasure of coaching Foster in competitive ball, he is a exceptional player.
The win last night was big for Cordova. They had been on a skid. They lost most of their pitching staff to injury and just recently got Mathews and Baker back to full strength after being out. Hachtel and Yarbrough were lost for the season with elbow injuries and McElveen has just tested his arm once (last week) since rehab. What was to be a good year turned out to be less than stellar due to a battered pitching staff. They lost 10 games by 1 run.
As to Shelby Metro teams that are playing good right now... Munford is doing great. Germantown has come on to suprise a lot of people. CBHS is playing above their talent level. Collierville has had a solid season.
I'll be curious to see what teams make it to the Spring Fling.

Northwest Shoals is having a terrific year. They have been ranked as high as 11th and are ranked 15th this week.
The coaches are very high on Marquis. They have him listed as C/OF, so it looks like he may see some time in the outfield as well. Did he also play OF at Henry County?

Two of the top competitors from the Mt. Pleasant High School baseball team have decided to stick together for at least two more years.

Neylan Roberts and Brandon Tuten have each committed to play baseball for coach Don Rhoton and Motlow State Community College, signing with the Bucks on Friday.

Craig Barrow (Catcher/OF) Henry County High School signs with the Bethel College Wildcats in McKenzie Tennessee.

He is a very hard worker and probably the most improved player in the last four years. I wish him the best under Wildcat coach Glenn Hayes.

I hope to have some news on seniors Matt Lee and Robert Beard before too long.

Kevin Blue, Catcher, Campbell County HS will be at Roane State

A Big congrats to Kevin and family. Keep throwing those base runners out.

I received word earlier in the week that Knox West pitcher David Zeanah has signed with Hiwassee College. Congratulations to David. I don't know of another player who has worked harder to elevate his game since his freshman year.

HV I was wondering if your son will be playing with the Knoxville stars this year.

I think the Stars will not field an 18U team this year. I'll have more on my son later.

OK HV I was hopeing to get to meet this summer.
John's summer team the Nashville yankees have the Knoxville Stars on the schedule on June 19 and 20.
Maybe it is a missprint or tentative.let me know if your sons tem wil be in nashville or at some of the near by tournaments.

Jonathan Taylor of Jackson Northside has committed to Dyersburg State CC for the upcoming year.

I've been working the last few days on getting caught up with signings and other class information. I've also started a new Class of 2007 list.
