TJ was a knuckle-scraper in high school and he kept everything down at the knees. Could it be that they are changing his slot at Coastal Carolina?

That is a good question and entirely possible. I never saw him pitch in high school so it is hard for me to say. I heard him described as a submariner in one article I read somewhere and after I saw him pitch, I did not come away with that impression. He is definitely close to sidearm but I wouldn't describe him as a submariner.

What team were you following this past weekend?

Thanks for asking Smile I am a Coastal guy and followed the games on Internet video this weekend. We are heading down to South Carolina this weekend and I'll see if I can say hello to TJ. Is there anyone from the Chicago area that I can pass along greetings to him?
I'm pretty familiar with T.J. Swank, and I would classify him as a "slinger". I'm almost positive that his arm slot has not changed since last high school season. Also, my guess is that Coastal sees his unique delivery as an advantage over there opponents, especially if he is going to be contributing as a middle reliever this spring.

That is not a guess imho. That is exactly what they said when they recruited him. I can only go by what I saw this past weekend. It looked like he has raised his arm slot a wee bit above what I would classify as a slinger. He has good downward sink on his pitches. The infielders like playing behind him.
Since there has been some interest in TJ Swank, here is my scouting report after seeing him live. Not a sider armer, submariner, or slinger. He is low 3/4's imho and he changes his arm angle from pitch to pitch. He reminds me of Dennis Eckersly. Does not throw as hard as Eck just yet, but he is only a freshman. Bright future imho.
