Congrats to all the local boys representing Texas in this past weekends Baseball Factory's UA Preseason America tournament held in Tucson!

Here are some of the local DFW boys which were selected:

Texas Team
R. Good - Alvarado 2010
A. Holmes -Bedford 2010
J. Reyna - Cedar Hill 2010
S. Ackley - Purdon 2009
B. Ragira - Arlington 2009
B. Besworth - Flower Mound 2010
R. Doerhoff - Flower Mound 2010

Lone Star Team
J. Hawes - Flower Mound 2010
R. Mitchell - Southlake 2009
B. Taylor - Plano 2009
M. Miller - Mansfield 2010

Texas went 2-0-1 beating the American team and the California team. They tied with the South team 3-3.

I know Ben Taylor he is an unknown at Plano for his senior year about to be real well known.

Benjamin is just 1 of the BIG reason's Plano Sr returns to the playoff hunt this year. He is going to have a solid year on the mound and at the plate

If you have ever played with or against Benjamin Taylor then you know he is not an unknown....he is very talented.

He played with Team Demarini last summer and Dallas Tigers this fall.... He will be a nice addition to Plano's already strong team.

Not trying diminish the accomplishment of these young men but I am courious. What is the cost charged by Baseball Factory/Under Armour to be "chosen" to be included in the pre-season All American list or tournament?

$0 to be chosen

Recruiting services just like PG or any other recruiting services, you pay for what you get, video, eval, instruction, recruiting assistance/advice/consultations etc.

Son enjoyed it! Steve Phillips was the quest speaker on Friday night and he was awesome! Mingled with all the parents and players.

B. Ragira will have a shot at playing at Wrigley Field in the Fall.

I know several kids who were selected but did not attend. Being selected was free, but attending was pretty expensive.

My son was selected - did not attend. Cost to attend was around $800 - you had to pay your own airfare and hotel.

My son was selected also. Very expensive to go and the pressure of additional costs beyond travel.

Nothing is free ppl!

The boys above were blessed to have been selected and have parents that were able to get them there.

Believe me I know some kids that were NOT selected. Its not an automatic selection process.

Over 7,000 kids attended their events in '08, only 300 got selected and some of them were from the previous year mainly seniors. AND only 36 will make the Wrigley Game in the Fall.

Those that we selected and couldn't make it, Congrats to them too!

Roundballer - You are absolutely right - the boys were priveleged to be selected. This economy made it hard to make the trip for our 2011 this year - hopefully he will be on the radar again for next year!

I am glad to hear there are happy customers....we elected not to attend the try-outs after researching Baseball Factory on HSBBweb....glad to hear things have changed for the better.

A friend of ours went and said it was a well run event. The only complaint was he wished the pitching was better, said it was pretty weak. But it is only January afterall.

The boys were divided into 20 teams with about 13-15 on each. They try and keep boys from the same general region together.
In the Texas, South, America, California pool, there was some awesome pitching. Texas had a lefty from the Austin area that did very well. As well as opposing team's pitchers.
I guess it just depended what pool you were in. Typically pitchnig is ahead of the hitters this early in the year.

It cost anywhere from 1200 up to 2500 to go plus travel expenses. We played in Florida last year at the Baseball factory in June and it was the best traveled of all the tournaments for scouts.

Ben was with us. He is unknown too. But not for long. He is a physical specimen.

We know a player that participated (Brian Ragira) in this event. His father says it was the best baseball event they have ever gone to. I'm planning on sending my son to one of their events this summer.
