Are you referring to Tori Hunter Jr. He played well at the PG National in Minnesota. We are told he is a high profile football recruit.
We have seen Michael Kopech pitch a lot already this summer, both in Georgia and Minnesota. He was an easy 92, maybe 93 at the Metrodome a couple weeks ago. Looks the part, he will be ranked very high once the 2014 class is updated.
The Rangers always have a good team at the Area Codes. Looks like this year is no exception based on the players we have seen this summer.
Kopech was at the PG Junior National and Barrera, Biggio, Buckner, Clemens, Dunlap, McKinney, Meisner, Neuse, Shane, Sheppard, Stewart, Williams were all on PG National rosters in Minnesota a couple weeks ago. Actually Clemens didn’t make it to Minnesota, probably due to final stages of the trial.
There were a few other top Texas players at the PG National that we thought would have made the Area Code team, especially Kramer Robertson and Nick Banks among others.
The Area Code Games can be very important to these players. It’s quite an honor to be selected. Texas is one of the states that sometimes has more talent than available roster spots.
BTW, In reference to a different thread, maybe those Texas players that attended the PG National Showcase in Minnesota weren’t so bad after all.
