Thanks !
Not sure whether it will start a trend.
Andrew Tinish director of scouting is a Brock grad !

"It was some Brock connections that helped make it happen.

Toronto Blue Jays director of scouting Andrew Tinnish is a Brock graduate and once played for the Badgers.

Using some longstanding Badger baseball connections, Valeriote was scouted by Tinnish and invited to the Rogers Centre last month for a private pre-draft workout"

This happens often, best of luck to Shaun.
Rusty added 3 MPH in college, now consistently 89-91 topping 92, went 22-13 in all games pitched in school and in the summer leagues at the collegiate level, was on the all star team EVERY year including pitcher of the year, and added a change to go with his fastball and curve.

His 31st round choice is due to his size. Is not getting to the minor leagues "improvement"? Nothing wrong with Rusty, and yes, he's improved.

But thanks for calling me out a**h***.

Sorry, what I mean "improvement" is on the Draft position thing. I have high expectation on Rusty 3 years ago, I thought he might crack into top 10 round this time. I am a little disappointed when I see 31. But Rusty still have one year left. Good luck next year, we got figure out some way to push him forward. Maybe get into more predraft camps, to let more scouts see him. More and more high schoolers get drafted earlier by just knowing the scouts......
Diamondthebest- Do you know Bum/Rusty personally? You speak as if you do.

That statement is blatantly incorrect and foolish. Scouts have found high school talent since the beginning of the game. The percentages are not increasing or decreasing for any "networking" reasons. Rusty pitches in a top DI conference for a top DI team. It is up to him, his advisor and his family what his next step in the future is. And only them.

Congrats Bum.
I don't speak for Bum, certainly, but look -- Rusty is not only a great picther but he's carrying a 4.0 gpa or **** near. He's a scholar-athlete. Maybe teams knew this year that this is a kid that very likely WANTS to graduate (and with honors and accolades).

I see Rusty tearing it up this summer, tearing it up for TT next spring, and getting a well-worth-waiting-for payday in the 2013 draft.

I got to see Rusty throw when he was still in HS (at a PG event). Great guy. And later on, ALMOST met Bum, but I think we were standing on opposite sides of the SPARQ testing event at Stanford lo these many years ago. Smile

Good things come to those who wait.

Thank you, Krakatoa..

Just so all know.. Rusty is SIGNED with the Seattle Mariners and is now in the minor leagues, not at TTU. I'm very proud of him, and for anyone to detract from what he has accomplished is where I draw the line as far as the wrath of a father.

But enough on that. How's Tristan?

(BTW, thanks GWFS.. I miss you too, buddy.)
I am really confused. Getting drafted in any round is fantastic , since when do people act like its a insult to be drafted in later rounds. Only a very few get drafted in top
Rounds. Sometimes I read these threads and wonder if some of the posters know what it's like to even get your name called at all and what a huge deal
It is. When you think about it most teams want 25 to 30
Guys to actually sign, half of those are pitchers so 30 teams times 12 is just over 300 pitchers drafted from the entire country. That is a huge accomplishment.Bum there are many great players in the MLB today that we're drafted in later rounds . Awesome for your son and best of luck
To him. I am really taken back by the questioning of this young mans improvement or whatever for goodness gracious his name was called that's a huge huge accomplishment and one anyone should be proud of.
I agree with the above, not sure why the poster is calling Rusty out.

Why not expose yourself and tell us who you are and what you know about how the draft works (especially this one). Go ahead, I dare ya.

Bum, congrats to your son and most of all enjoy the moments, I saw that rusty signed.

I sincerely thank all of you. And good luck to all of you with sons at any level of competition. It only gets increasingly harder at each step, so to have the opportunity to move on is a real blessing. From this point on, let the pundits be the pundits, and as for me, I will surely just enjoy each day he continues to play this great game.
Bum, not sure where your son was assigned but I'll be watching their rookie league team, the Pulaski Mariners, on Sunday. They are playing an exhibition against my son's college summer league team. If I see his name of the roster, I'll make sure I cheer for him (unless my son is pitching also Smile)But good luck to him wherever he is assigned.
Bum,
Congratulations on the success of your son. I, as many of you on here know that there are few who make this level, so your whole family should enjoy this. In fact you should enjoy every second of it!

Diamondthebest,
Let the players and their parents enjoy their moment. This is a very select group and we should be proud of each and everyone of them. This is THEIR decision to go pro and not ours.

All of the 2012 draftees,
Congratulations. This has been a long road, but this is just the beginning of a great experience.
