Congrats to Colin Fleischer on his commitment to VMI.

I've seen thousands of rounds of BP in the last few years making recruiting videos. I can honestly say that this kids round was one of the few that really made me stop in my tracks! In about 20-25 swings he hit 5 bombs. 2 over right center. 1 dead center. 2 over score board in left. And this was done in the pouring rain!

Coach Ike found himself a good one here.

See him here... http://www.playinschool.com/sw...hings/fleischer.html

Congratulations to Trevor Denton, the versatile Hanover High School member of the class of 2014, on committing today to Virginia Military Institute!

Trevor had an outstanding fall with the Virginia Cardinals, showing tremendous versatility by pitching, catching and playing 3B and 1B. He closed out his fall by playing for the Virginia team in the Border Battle games earlier this month. He becomes the seventh Cardinals player in the current junior class to have committed to a Division I program already.

Many of you are much closer to this issue than me, but the talent pool over the last few years has been very strong.  It could be that once you get past the top tier players the talent pool has dropped.

I thought this, too, until I counted.  Note: there is no one central place to find all the early committments.  Many have not been reported.

For 2013s:

First reported committment on the hsbaseballweb July 3, 2011

Last reported commentment on the hsbaseballweb July 6, 2013

33 committments as of 8/30/12 (VaPreps said they "had almost 50" by that time)

96 total reported committments - hsbaseballweb

97 total reported committments - Perfect Game

For 2014s

First reported committment on the hsbaseballweb February 23, 2012

Last reported commentment on the hsbaseballweb ?????

32 committments as of 9/9/13 - hsbaseballweb (one decommitted)

48 committments as of 9/9/13 - Perfect Game

(VaPreps hasn't updated since last fall)

For 2015s

First reported committment on the hsbaseballweb July 8, 2012

14 committments as of 9/9/13 - hsbaseballweb

12 committments as of 9/9/13 - Perfect Game

And after all the hashtagging, I may have miscounted!

 (edited to add 2015 info)

If a player leaves a program, joins another program, and is subsequently married up with his future college by the new program, I don't know that it's appropriate for the first program to claim credit for the commitment.

Likewise, if a player commits while with one program, and later leaves that program to pitch on occasion with another program, I don't know that it's appropriate for the second program to claim credit for the commitment.

Otherwise we're going to have certain players being claimed by multiple organizations.

On the other hand, keep publishing this information. It helps players/families in their decisions as to where they should aspire to play their Summer/Fall ball. This info is a part of the data used to make intelligent decisions regarding a key component of the recruiting strategy.

This says that 3 of those guys ARE IYG Spiders?
