So I have posted before about trying to make football and baseball work in the fall. For those that did not see that thread my son is a 2018 RHP and a starting varsity LB who is trying to do both but only as needed. We recently attended the Wilson Premier so that he could be seen by some schools on his short list. It was definitely as challenging, if not more then, as some advised it would be but at least two of the coaches recognized the challenges and continue to be interested. My son will be going to out for weekend visit to one of the schools and it is very likely that he will make a commitment.

Prior to Wilson tourney, my son was offered an opportunity to play for another top travel team that was at Wilson and will be attending PG World tourney. He was super excited at the time. However, after the Wilson experience my son was not as thrilled about this opportunity so I sent email to coach and was honest about my son's performance and experience. I was totally expecting a "cool...appreciate you letting us know." It was just the opposite. Coach said he is ok if my son struggles and they still want him to be part of team. Shared this with my son and now he is on the fence.

We have heard nothing but great things about the PG World tournament and that the experience alone is worth every penny. I guess I am just looking for honest feedback on the tourney itself and am open to hearing your thoughts on how you might handle this situation. I recommended he call a couple of guys that have attended and told him I would post a thread to see what some of you might have to share.

As always, thanks for any and all feedback!!!

Were the struggles entirely due to performance?  Or did he struggle mechanically in ways that could potentially effect his arm health?  Was his arm more sore or "differently sore" after pitching than it normally would be when in shape?

Velocity the same as in the summer?

With the answers to those questions I think I would have more perspective in order to intelligently reply.  My apologies if all this was covered elsewhere and I missed it...

Follow up question:  if it looks like he might commit next weekend, why would he pitch at PG World?  Is there a possibility of him getting drafted, and you are positioning him for scouts?

I am not sure if anyone has ever done this before but I just finished deleting my second long response. In being thoughtful, composing, and reflecting on 3and2's post, I realized that there are some very basic pros/cons that need to be considered. The decision will still be his but want it to be an educated one.

Sorry for taking up space on the board but thanks 3and2! Your question in regards to reasons for attending, sparked a little inner voice Q&A that helped me answer some of my own questions. Thanks again!
