General question.  Say a kid playing college ball(pick a level) needs TJ surgury.  Does school insurance pay for procedure and cost of rehab if the injury occurred while enrolled and in good standing?  

I see at least two of our members' sons on the D1 tab of the TJS list.

At the D3 level the answer is no.  Since there are no scholarships involved you would be on your own nickel.  At D1, D2, or NAIA level I suspect there would be variables involved - starting with how much scholarship money the school had invested in the player.  How and when the injury occurred would also come into play I imagine.  How much the coach liked the player and how valuable he was to the team could factor into it too.  At the Juco level I suspect you would be on your own.

In my son’s case, we filed our insurance as primary, then school picked up. We have a very high deductible, so school basically paid for everything. He had a nerve transposition surgery and then TJ. I haven’t paid a penny out of pocket. All his rehab was through the school and trainers. 

So pitching is dangerous and should be outlawed and replaced by pitching machines
