I am having a nice debate with my middle son...(I will call him non-lefty since his older and younger bro's are lefty's) about glove size for 3B's....just curious to see what size you or your son prefers. Thanks in advance

Son plays 3B for HS team uses 11.75 inch. My opionion nothing smaller than 11.5 up to about 12.0.
Yup, usually 3B will use a glove just a bit longer than MIF but not a lot... agree on 11.5 - 12 assuming HS age.
He is a freshman in HS and will bounce between 3B and C, I am arguing for the 12", he is leaning toward the 11.75......not really wrong either way he goes, but I like that little extra at the hot corner
You're both in the right zone. Don't know if you know the way the glove is measured but it's a soft tape measurement from heel edge to finger tip, with the tape running along the contoured surface of the glove (not a straight line). So, pocket depth, which can vary quite a bit, affects the measurement. When you are talking 11.75 vs 12, you may have some 12's that feel smaller than the 11.75 due to deeper pocket.
2017 used a 11.5 through this year. Pretty large hands, but has been comfortable with this size until now. He will be breaking in a 11.75 over the winter.
Son uses his 11.5 everywhere. Has tried other gloves, but this is his favorite. Has played MIF, 3B and OF with it. Only time he wears something else is when he is behind the plate which is where he is 95% of the time now that he is in college. Catchers are weird, what can I say.
If you compare good gloves to cheaper gloves you'll see what cabbagedad means about the measurement. My son has used Akadema for the past 4 or 5 years. They are a very deep pocket...meaning his 11.5" glove is shorter than the 11.25" gloves from some other manufacturers. If you're looking at outfield gloves it can be a huge difference. A lower end 12" glove will likely be longer than a good 12.5....and a cheap 13" OF glove looks like a 14" softball glove. It's tough to buy a glove based on measurement if you can't actually look at it. I'd never consider buying a glove for an IF without having trying it on....or at least seeing one in person.
Thanks so far guys/gals. Fortunately I tend to take the glove issue very serious. I buy a lot of gloves off EBAY and sell to the local kids. I pick off a lot of high end gloves at some rally good prices and only add $5 to the kids cost. Gives a lot of them a chance to use a quality glove that they might not otherwise get a chance to use. It also lets me get my hands on them to try them out and get a feel.
The debate between non-lefty and I is turning out to be a good one. He is starting to assert himself and fight for what he wants and is learning to articulate the reasons why.
Anyone have any particular off-brand, or small company, less know type glove makers that they want to recommend? I definitely don't mind trying new items out.
lefthookdad....my son has been using Akadema for 5 or 6 years. He won't consider anything else. A friend's son who is a D1 catcher....same story. His school had free Rawlings mitts....and he wouldn't consider changing. Good time of year if you're looking for something from them. www.akademapro.com I may have a 12" (fits more like 11.5) laying around...brand new....I am a dealer for them but don't do much with them anymore since my son is in HS. I will look tonight....DM me if you're interested...I'll sell it cheap if I have one left.
DM sent.
