TPM,
A player can transfer from a 4 year school into a D1 without sitting if the player's major is dropped, and the player continues the same major at the new D1.
14.5.5.2.3 Discontinued Academic Program Exception. The student changed institutions in order to continue a major course of study because the original institution discontinued the academic program in the student’s major.

14.5.5.2 outlines that the player can't be under disciplinary restriction at the original school. He also needs to not have been in the middle of a sit-out year at the original school. Finally, as part of the new rules for baseball, he can't transfer mid-year without sitting out. I would think that any school droppng a major would provide enough notice so that the transfer would take place at the beginning of the fall semester.

This exception is not available to 2-4 or 4-2-4 transfers.
