Beavan hit 96 in the 6th, mainly 92-94.

Irving's coaching is freaking BRUTAL. Instruction, non-existent.

They get beat by a kid throwing 75mph.

Unbelievable.

Back to Beavan...
He has some issues, ESPECIALLY against LHH. His flat breaking ball is not the answer at the next level. Also, pitch selection is sub par. Gets beat to often with the breaking ball.

I, unlike some, really like his mechanics however. Double quick arm, and gets that hip explosion/weight transfer that is lighting up the gun.

For you to demean Kyle Meinhardt's pitching is unbelievable. Sure he may be 5'8 160, but he sure knows the game, including pitching, better than anyone I know. That's great that he threw 96 in the sixth, I bet it was the fastball high and out for ball four to me...Beavan is a great pitcher and I wont argue any further with you since you are entitled to an opinion on him just like anyone else. But please do not belittle KM based on the assumption that all you know is he throws 75-80 MPH. He's been incredible for us this year, and his record doesn't show it. Take a look at the area leaders in ERA and find him there...

Good luck to everyone today and in playoffs.
Congratulations to OBN and Marcus.

Condolences to Hebron and hte Hawk family.

Does any one know how 5 5A will decide 2nd /3rd between Heritage and Keller?

As for Coppell, It might seem a senior moment by the senior guy on Senior Night cost the team it's best chance at a come back. But the bats did have other chances that they missed. Pressly looked good, no-hit Coppell for 3+. To Coach English's credit he stayed with the Senior line-up for the whole game.

Two bad games is no way to finish a very good District season but it is what it is and I am sure the boys will be ready to play well and play hard on Thursday against who ever they play.

I won't jump on your post too bad, I am only going to assume you haven't watched or played much HS baseball because you obviously don't understand how Meinhardt could win a HS game.

As a whole, HS hitters have a hard time hitting anything off speed and anything on the outside half of the plate. Breaking pitches and pitches to the outside half of the zone expose so many flaws in HS hitters that it is not even funny. Lots of HS kids can hit fastballs - even 90+ mph fastballs. It's those "75 mph" pitchers that I have seen time and again give HS teams fits.

As far as Beavan, he is a great pitcher who uses his fastball to set up his slider (just like a good fastball pitcher should). There are some nights when a slider just doesn't have he bite that it normally does - it stays flat. When that happens a "bad" slider turns into a BP pitch. I have seen Beavan pitch alot and I have rarely seen him not have his best slider - and when his slider is "on" it is one nasty pitch.

My point is that if Beavan just threw his 92 - 94 mph fastball one after another, even HS teams would be able to hit him to some degree. I don't know what he is throwing this season, but I always like for a pitcher who throws a slider to be able to throw a curveball or a good change up so that he has a backup pitch to fall back on on nights when his slider may not have the downward movement that it normally does.

Anyway, congratulations to Kyle and good luck to both him and Blake in the playoffs. I hope they both throw well and I know they will.
Meatsdad,

MeatJr looked good last night on the mound!

I applaud English for playing the Senior's all night, that is class act!

Pressley did look good last night as did Holland the closer. It was a great game, close all night and the 2 three run homers by each team were fun to watch.

Great game, nice senior night presentation I love how your Mom's wear the Jersey's to the game I hope Marcus takes that as an idea for next year.

Good Luck in the playoffs!!!!!

And I still haven't gotten to meet Train.........DARN it all.

Sent you a PM Meatsdad.

I was at the Naaman Forest game thursday night and the GNF/Rowlett game yesterday and noticed some things. Even though my son goes to Rowlett, so my ties lean toward the Eagles, I would like to say GNF play the game the way it is supposed to be played. They sprint on and off the field between innings; if someone strikes out or make bad play the WHOLE team picks up the player; good sportmanship is exhibited by every player; the positivity seeps from the dugout onto the field thoughout the game. I am very impressed with the attitude of this team. Anyone who faces them in the playoffs will have their hands full. I would like to congradulate them on a great season and wish them luck in the playoffs.

By the way, great game yesterday. Good luck to both teams in the playoffs.

GO EAGLES!!!!!
ACowboy,

Thanks and good luck to you guys.

BTW: I just talked to the father of our closer and he said that Coach English made a point to walk over to his son and gave him a big handshake and said some nice words and it meant the world to them because this kid has been under the radar in our program and outside our program for years and I personally think this kid is overdue for this type of recognition, That was Class....

And Surprise, yes, I think we have surprissed ourselves and our coaches, hopefully we can continue on with this approach and gather up a few more wins.

I'm not "belittling" or "demeaning" the kid.

I said he throws 75-mph (FACT)
insinuating it was HUGE upset he beat Beavan (FACT),
and Irving's coaching is terrible. (ARGUABLE)

You're right man, I'm pretty new to the game of baseball.

Calling me out? Be hospitable.

I could sit here and 'anonymously' toot a horn, telling you HS and Round, and nonsense, but that is just a little too lame for me. My playing days have been over for a couple years now. I'll stick to what I do best and that is helping young pitchers.

angelAfter a difficult week of late night losses Colleyville did come thru on a coin toss. I am sure this is not how the boys or the fans wanted to place second....but it is what it is....

Colleyville to face Marcus

Grapevine will face FM
