Can the Duncanville mystique continue tonight???

My advice to FM, keep the leadoff hitter Leftridge off the bases!!!

Does he have one outstanding pitcher? Whos is it and how he has he done? What does Leftridge have going?... he is superfast?

Yes he does...Jared Rogers, here are his district stats...7-0, 1.56 ERA, 52 IP, 52 hits, 62 K, 5 BB. We knocked him around the last game of the season, they just outscored us. He also had a no decision when they lost to Martin 3-1 in 9 innings.

As for Leftridge, he is the best hitter in their lineup IMO. He makes their offense go! Yes, he has great speed!

It was a tight game for 5 innings. Both pitchers did a great job. What I came away very impressed with was FM's ability to execute their small ball game in the 6th inning. Of the 7 hits in the inning, I believe 4 were off bunts. Duncanville could not defend the bunt or the stolen base all night. In the 8 run inning, only 1 ball FM hit was hit hard, the ball hit down the 1B line by Millard.

FM did not exactly tear the cover off the ball. Now, in the playoffs, that is the way it should be because ot the caliber of pitching you face. What FM has is a plan "B," the small ball game. 7 of my players, including 3 returning starters were there sitting with me. They were very impressed with FM's ability to bunt and to put pressure on Dunc...something that I have preached to them for 2 years now.

If I had my choice, I would love to be in the 3rd base coaching box and let my kids hit away My 2000 team at FW Nolan averaged 9 runs a game and hit 97 doubles in 34 games). However, in HS baseball, against the good pitching, that usually don't happen. I know that some of you are not real big believers in it. Tonight though, it broke open a tight game when neither team was knocking the cover off the ball. FM put pressure on Dunc that they did not do a good job handling.

Maybe now when I put the machine on in the cage and we work on bunting...they'll take it a little more serious. I can only hope.
Our playoff game this past Monday against FMHS saw the same type of smallball only it came during the first inning and it caught our boys completely off guard and 2 runs scored. The multiple bunts were very well executed and they used it against a team (ours) that has been known, in the past, to use the same gameplan against good pitching. Hats off.
