Been involved in the NW baseball scene for a while but mostly at the 18U/college summer levels. Have a 4 almost 5 year old now and am wonderinf if anyone knows of any 5u/6u instructional.select type program or looking for people who would want to possibly join me in starting something like that up? Idea would be to have 1 team of 18 kids or so and do split squad t-ball/coach pitch games while teaching basic fundamentals of the game. Almost a camp type setting with instructional type games involved on weekend. Is there anything out there like that currently on the South End/Eastside? I'd like to get the little guy involved in something other than a "dad" coached t-ball type scenario through the local little leagues etc. so fundamentals can be taught properly and kids who have the desire can learn from an earlier age that that of traditional select level teams and instruction. If there is anything out there currently I am activley looking and asked some of my local contacts who run academies etc and haven't found anything? I am willing to start something possibly as well that could be like Wednesday nights as well as a weekend day possibly with more camp/game settings to come in the summer? If interested or have any information please e-mail me at privateclientgroupnw@gmail.com

Amen, Woody! I hope this is not a serious post. We see funny posts about 3u and 5u on this site every now and then. I think you will find many members here discourage this idea. I can tell you that you haven't found anything because the thought of having a 5 year old doing this is IMO ludicrous. Please reconsider. I'm sorry if this post comes off too harsh, but a 5 year old does not need to be receiving instruction in a formal setting IMO. T-ball and that's it.

Nonetheless, I do welcome you here and wish your boy luck in 10 years.
Sorry SStars... gotta go with two replys. Have been around game for lotta yrs. Have played with guys who made the show and several more who would have had dad hadn't destroyed them mentally. If you're around 18U/ college level...you know most coaches want charector not robots. Go play catch with your son, let him learn to love the game, and if he doesn't love him anyway. There is a reason there are no programs for that age.

hahahahaha sorry guys been off the forums for a while! Yes....to answer you all this was a JOKE made for humor...I saw a similar post on Tacoma baseball by MDC baseball or something and laughed hysterically. So after a few beers and discussing how ruined "select" baseball is around here me and a buddy got online and posted this here, Tacoma baseball, and Seattle Times forum. Here is the sad part; and from the screen names I know some of you posters personally from over the years so you'll know exactly what I am saying. I got not a few...but 87 e-mails from parents wanting "information" on if I had found a program or was interested in "pairing up" and starting one. This literally makes me sick! I have been coaching a top 18U team for the past ^ years now and haven't taken a dime except 1 season when my family was in some financial distress. I use my coaches money that is budgeted to scholarship players who can't afford to play. I love how there is 20 different leagues now with 400+ 13U teams out there and parents of all things starting 8,9,10U teams!!! At first I thought it was a joke too until my 4 year old started T-ball...Once some of the parents found out I coached/knew the game a bit (please keep in mind I live on the eastside unfortunately as a comment above pointed out so people here think their kids s*** gold and all are going to be MLB players followed by President once their MLB career is over) it was awful!!!! What ever happened to kids playing Little League/Pony and the All-Star teams still being good? What happened to There being just AABC select ball in WA and very few teams that were all producing PRO/top D-1 players? It is sad now what people do for money and sell false promise and dreams to these delusional parents and kids. if you want to play baseball, GREAT!!!! I LOVE baseball more passionately than anything on this earth and everyone should play! However, that is what Little league and various rec organizations are intended for and a hell of a lot cheaper for these parents who are spending thousands a year for a kid who should be playing for fun/love of the game as his main purpose. Anyhow, now that baseball has come to an end again figured i'd jump back on here and love the comments haha Hopefully see you all soon!
