Nimitz vs. LD Bell at Bell last night.
LD Bell is composed of 8 seniors and the rest are juniors and 2 sophomores. Good team.

Sophomore Jason Landis got the start on the hill for Nimitz. After 3 complete, Nimitz was leading
3-1. Jason entered the 4 inning and struggled to satisfy the umpires (no north and no south) strike zone. In an effort to find it, combined with missed opportunities on 3 picked runners, he gave up 4 runs, going 3 and 1/3 innings and was relieved by sophomore Brian Jones. Jones got out of the 4th without any more runs scored. In the top of the 5th, Jones nearly ties it up with a solo shot but flies out 365 ft. to deep right center field nearly going yard to the deepest 375 ft. portion of Raider field as the outstanding centerfielder for Bell runs it down catching it over his right shoulder. No runs were scored on Jones in the bottom of the 5th, however a lot of pitches were thrown trying to find the zone. In the bottom of the 6th, Jones with 2 outs against the Raiders and bases loaded, gives up a late swinging hit that landed a couple feet in play just over 1st basemen's head and 3 scored moving the score to 7-3 Raiders. Raiders eventually added one more run making the score 8-3. Nimitz failed to make a charge in the top of the 7th. LD Bell had 3 or 4 hits on the night, but scored 8 runs.
Nimitz had 5 errors. Landis and Jones gave up a combined 8 walks and had 4 K’s. Final 8-3 LB Bell.

My game summary comes from my memory of the game and not from game changer so the exact numbers are
suspect, but close. Wink

Another tremendously valuable learning experience for this young team.
You learn from a loss, what it takes to win.

LD Bell showed they have the weapons to contend for the 6-5A district title.

Nimitz will try for their first district win tonight against Haltom at Nimitz HS.

Nimitz Vikings visited MacArthur Cardinals 3/27 and Vikings starting pitcher sophomore Scott Balfantz, throws a complete game no hit shut-out.
Nimitz had 10 hits on the night against Cardinal ace, senior Tanner Sheets who threw 4 innings followed by Logan Austin for the final 3.
Viking's sophomore Brian Jones led the offense going 3 for 3 with a sac. bunt RBI.
Nimitz defeats MacArthur 6-0.

Should be fun to see who grabs that last spot. Colleyville locks it up with a win at Haltom on Tuesday. Bell getting beat by Trinity was not a total shock and should take second. Grapevine getting swept by Haltom was a shock but not because Haltom isn't good just the Grapevine was on a roll. I think Richland is one of the better teams in the district but not playing up to their potential
3 teams in the hunt for the last playoff spot makes for some high-stakes games Fri and Sat! Exciting times in 6-5a!

Trinity 8 - 7
Haltom 7 - 7
Richland 6 - 8

Trinity plays their last game at Grapevine (10-4) Friday at 7pm. Richland plays at Haltom Friday at 7pm.

Richland plays Nimitz (5-9) Sat at 1pm (I don't know who's home). Haltom hosts Irving (1 - 13) Sat at 1pm.

Scenarios (as I understand them):
If Haltom wins out they earn the last spot by their record.
If Richland wins out, or end in a 3-way tie with THS & HHS, they earn the last spot by head-to-head record.
If Trinity and Haltom win out, they play a "winner takes all" play-in game.

Just based on record, the most likely scenario is HHS earning the last spot outright...but ya never know!
