Hey Jon, Im not trying to butt in on the post by Oklahoma Baseball, but I am in pretty much the same boat he is in, only going into my junior year. Right now my workout consists of 5 days of lifting a week (2 upper, 2 lower, 1 full), agilities during the weekdays, and 330 gut checks during week days.

Are there any other additional workouts I can add to this to get my 60 and 40 time down?
Thanks
Nice try withyour advertising. Your gadget wont do much for the baseball player, or anyone outside of the casual runner for that matter.

Stride length, stride frequency and ground force production are the key to speed and in baseball you need to be able to do that in more than just linear movement.

OK Baseball....speed needs to be trained first in a training session. You can teach your body how to be slower just as you can teach it how to be faster. Continue to do the speed ladder and sptrint work, just move it to the beginning on the workouts, or sperate it on an off days from weight training.
If I don't recall Mr. Doyle you are advertising your web-site on every post here. And I assume it is to help people. Don't feel threatened! I am just giving people an option, thats why they veiw these boards... to learn and see what is out there to help them get better.

Ask any track coach of the importance of upper body mechanics. Its the starting point for anyone wanting to improve their running.

I am not saying this is the only way to get faster but it is definately an option.

You are absolutely right...Stride length, stride fequency, and ground force production are keys to speed but without proper upper body mechanics they can't be maximized to the fullest. Buy improving upper body mechanics you will naturally increase stride length and ground force production through the proper backward thrust of the arms.

Mr. Doyle you should know the importance of technique I'm sure you teach it all the time. Technique and Form is the foundation to weight lifting...as it is to hitting, pitching and even running!
It wasn't the fact that you had a link to your website at the bottom, it's the fact that your post ONLY contained a link to your website.

That's not how we do things around here. It is fine if you offer the readers more info. But first you should give them some quality info. Maybe going into stride length, frequency, etc and then saying "hey this is my product..."

In addition the way you posted your website makes it seem like you are an unbiased third party, which you are not.

I'm sure you have a lot to offer the readers here. I welcome you to the board. But please provide quality info along with your product link.
I will definately take that into consideration...

You can also cut a few tenths on your start to improve your 60 time.

Running a good 60 time has to do with being as efficient as possible. Very little wasted movements...Players often lose alot at the start because of improper technique. PGStaff had a great post describing it in detail! Check it out!
I respect and appreciate the 60 time as much as I appreciate getting on base to use it, getting a good jump, knowing the angles of baserunning, and overall game speed and athleticism.

There is a difference. Those "tenths" get eaten up pretty quickly with no-no-how"

...........and it lies in the heart of the player.............I am befuddled when hitting skills are confused with sprints?
