Being a new englander that saw summers at 100 plus degrees, and summers that were too cool to go to the beach and too cloudy to get a tan, I have learned to love the summers here as well. We are almost guaranteed sunshine, I just stay out of it from 12-5 pm. I never liked those afternoon tournaments the last week in july. I once got a sunburn on my back... through my shirt.
Son played in a late July tournament a few years ago, well, actually played in two tournaments in the same weekend for two different teams. He begged me to let him do it, so I relented.

Played a total of 9 games in 3 days, all of them played at temperatures between 90 and 104 degrees. Needless to say, he didn't leave the a/c for a week.
My teams used to practice in July & August at 5 p.m. Temp's up to 107. But we took lots of water breaks and made sure the boys stayed well hydrated. Never had a kid have any trouble. I almost keeled over once, though, while throwing 400th pitch of hitting practice. Big Grin

And we were always in great shape compared to other teams when we had to play games during the heat of the day.

Played a week long tourney in Orlando before ... 95+ temp with 100% humidity ...

Orlando may be the toughest place to play during the summer that I've ever been to.
Hey HiHard, and any of those who really believe we have 95+ with 100% humidity. I not only have never seen it in 18 years, but I did a check a while back for the highest heat index on record in Orlando. It is 112. That was on a 97 degree day with humidity hovering around 70%. Thats unbearable. We get our highest humidity in the am and late pm, but our hottest temps around 3-5 pm. So it can feel like 90 at 8 am and like 97 at 3 pm. Still no relief. I checked what 95 with 100% humidity would be on a chart. It feels like 122 degrees. We haven't had that yet. I guess Vegas and Phoenix have dry heat. I read where 120 can actually ONLY feel like 115-117. Now thats much more like it.
