If it the young man that I have heard of committing to UW then I know him well. He is a 7th grader, but he is older than my 8th grader. He is a kid that developed early and has a lot of skill. We will see how it turns out when he finishes puberty. Not likely to be a big kid. I don't see the benefit for UW on this though.
Press, that's the only valid reason. The school has nothing to lose, they are not committed to anything.
As we know, schools can't announce commitments until players sign their letters of intent. I've often wondered how often coaches read Tweets about players committing to their schools and say among themselves, "It's nice that he's committed to us, but why does he think we're committed to him?"

.....or just roll their eyes.
I humorously though about having my 2017 "commit" to about 10 different major D1 Universities and "leak" it to the local paper.

Think big. Go ahead and commit to an MLB team!
As fenway has stated the school cannot acknowledge any committment.
It means nothing.
If that is considered a negative comment, for claification, it was meant to be.
