I had an email forwarded to me the other day from a parent of a 13-year old boy to his son's youth baseball coach. The parent was PO'd about a number of things.

But the email concluded (paraphrasing), "and coach, you and your son could at least learn my son's name and stop calling him '4'!" (4 is the boy's number).

A lot to learn, a lot to learn my friend! Wonder what "9" would think of that? Cool

I do remember coaching the first couple of years in LL and thought it was hilarious to yell out a number and watch the kids try to look at the back of their jersey to see if I was talking to them. In jest I told one mother to write the number on the back of his throwng hand or she should also start calling him that at home so he gets used to it. The next game I heard her say to his older sister "have you seen 7?" Right then I knew coaching was for me.
