LOL...

My Coaches and I get lots of funny looks during games...we love messing the the kids.

Last tournament, a foul ball is hit to the 1B side, over the fence and out of play. Our 1st baseman runs to the fence and stops. I yell out.. "You GOTTA HAVE THOSE!!!"

Several of the opposing parents must have thought I was serious...and gave me the strangest looks.

My parents and players were laughing...this is normal for us.

The game IS supposed to be fun.

I remember a kid I coached...he was the shortest kid on the team, but played like he was a monster. Kept the Coaches and players laughing all the time...

Bases loaded, tie ball game, no outs, he's at the plate. 2-0 Count. He takes a hack at a pitch in his EYES.

I'm coaching 3rd base, and tell him "you need a step ladder to hit that one, leave it alone.."

He replies before stepping back in the box

"Then get me a step ladder coach and I'll hit it"

Yesterday the first baseman's dad and I were watching the game down the rightfield line. We were on the visitors side. His son chases a foul ball to the boundary (tarred walkway) and pulls up as the ball hits on the far side of the walkway.

The dad looks at me and says, "What a puss. He should have laid out for that one."

I responded, "If he was a team player he would have hung his toes on the edge of the turf and taken one for the team."

You should have seen the looks from parents.
For whatever the reason we put a player in RF as we were short players for the weekend---he blew a fly ball that was an easy out

The next day we move the same player to LF ---after one inning we move him back to infield telling him that we didnt want to screw up he did yesterday---all we got from the kid was a loud laugh and a very humble "thank you".

We also had a 4 ft high Green Monkey in the dugout during a tournament last fall--hey let the players have fun

Isn't baseball fun
7th grade..
The pitchers hat falls off on every pitch. The coach comes out of the dugout and hollers at the pitcher to tighten his hat. The pitcher says it's as tight as it goes.

Coach Then make a fist, stick out your thumb, stick it in your mouth, and blow as hard as you can... He did it and I still laugh to this day.

My son is a catcher, his good buddy plays 3B. 3B is a 6'1" 230lb beast.

Foul ball third base side, my son is yelling "you got room, you got room!" 3B pulls up at last second and bangs fence pretty good as the ball lands 3 feet the other side. Catcher runs over smacks him on the fanny and says "oops".

3B "I got room huh?"

Catcher "there's not a fence in Florida that can hold your big A $ $ in"

The Third base coach from other team was laughing hysterically. (he was only one to hear the two talking)

This was told to me after game by both players laughing about it.

We were at a tournament last weekend and jerseysonII reached second base and represented the go ahead run in the semi final game. The whole game had been one of those back and forth games so everyone was on pins and needles.

Now jerseysonII is not the fastest kid in the world so the coach calls for a pinch runner (as he should have). So it's really quite on the field and as he is jogging off we hear him yell out to the coach "well, now I’m just insulted... you obviously don't appreciate my speed".

I thought OMG did he really just say that out loud... thankfully everyone knew that he was joking (including the coach who was laughing). One of the parents standing next me looks over and said, "where did he come from"? I sometimes wonder that myself. Smile

Two batters later, one of our kid hits a grand slam to win the game and put us in the finals.

My funny moment goes back to my own career in Little League. As my nickname was "Wheels", you can imagine that speed was not my main attribute.

Tie game, extra innings in 12YO Allstars district championship game. I hit a single to right. I'm standing there on first base and look over to our dugout looking for the sign (Coaches give them from the dugout) - expecting to see the bunt. Instead the coach touches his cap (the indicator) and then touches his butt - which is the steal sign. So next pitch off I go - out by 15 feet.

As I jog back to the dugout, coach is yelling what are you doing? I say he gave the sign and he yells back - I was just scratching - I didn't mean it.

My son...pitching in a 10 year-old allstar tourney...was rushing his delivery in the 6th inning of a tight game. I yelled out for him to "stretch" (meaning of course, change to the stretch position). He stepped off the rubber...spread his arms out...and STRETCHED like he was getting up from a nap. I yelled "pitch from the stretch"...he laughed...we ALL laughed...and he settled down.
A story catchers or parents of catchers can appreciate:

Adam was 12 or 13, catching in a Memorial day tournament at Disney – 90+ degrees, 90+ humidity. Three of our pitchers had issues that weekend, sore arms or headaches or backaches, can’t remember all the specific ailments. Adam was in his 4th game behind the plate in two days. Wringing with sweat, he gets the call to the bullpen in the 5th – to pitch. Goes out and throws the last two innings.

After the game the pitchers looked great playing keep away in the pool and horsing around.

The team has one more game the next day. That morning, he asks his mother for 3 towels, 3 ziplock bags of ice, and 6 Tylenol. We are thinking he must really be hurting. We tell him he can’t take 6 Tylenol, so he says at least give me 3 and then I might need more later.

We get to the field before the rest of the team. Adam goes to the dugout and lays the three towels with ice bags and Tylenol neatly placed on each towel at the end of the bench. He then takes a seat and waits for the team. Everyone arrives and he starts putting on his gear for the last game. He then yells to the three pitchers while pointing to the care packages on the bench “Ladies, here are your seats, I have also asked for some extra Gatorade, in case you can’t make it the whole game in the shade of the dugout.”

Then he proceeded to jog to the field to warm up.
