I bet the people at GameChanger never imagined they would be cited in news story about a battery charge.
7 year old gets basketball offer from USC: www.insidesocal.com/usc/2017/0...d-offers-7-year-old/
Clearly an attempt to influence his older brother, but still . . .
there were a few golfers in Houston area offered in middle school who also committed btw and I laughed when they hadnt even chosen high schools yet. But in these particular cases it worked out. 1 ended up qualifying for us open youngest ever and is top ranked junior in world i believe. So coaches knew what they were doing.
I would say golf is a little different than other sports. You can be 5' nothing and be a great golfer....even if you never grow another inch or gain another pound. Offering a 5'6 130 lb kid for football could end up being a huge mistake if the kid only ends up 5'8, 150 lol
With that much time between the offer and when the 11 year old arrives on campus, the likelihood that there is turnover in the coaching staff is quite high.
