I was talking to an older gentleman the other day about baseball. He brought up the fact about the 2 different radar guns, the Jugs and Stalker and there difference in speed. He thought it was funny that only when someone throws around 90 do they argue how fast it really is. In his own words "If a major leaguer throws it in there at 95 you never hear someone say that was probably only 92 on the stalker, and no one ever talks about the kids in the low 80s. I thought this was worth putting up on the site, hopefully some will find it interesting.

Great question as my son (2012 LHP) has been facing this "gun" question.

One day, when the Juggs was there he was throwing 83-88, according to the college coach with the Juggs.

I heard a pro scout had him on a Stalker at 81-83. I had Jr's sister sitting behind the Juggs and making notes. She's a softball pitcher herself and eager to knock Jr. down, but admitted to lots of 87's and some 88's and a few 86's on fastballs. There were offspeed's lower and she called the 83 a change up. I didn't see the other guy that day, only heard the rumor.

My experience is that everyone believes the Juggs registers a few MPH faster. It might be one, it might be three. Nobody seems to care about the Juggs velocity, but everyone believes the Stalker.

My opinion, I'd like the local police to use Juggs when tracking me in school zones. Save the Stalker's for baseball.
