Hi All,

I know that many of you have wanted to have more postings on this site from college ballplayers. Many have wanted that we share our opinions of and insights into the game we all at HSBBW love. Because of this, I wanted to offer my undertaking in a new blog to those on HSBBW. I will be updating on personal experiences, insights and other things that strike me. I will also hope to share a little of my faith with readers (if I am so fortunate to have some).

Thanks!

Mstcks - nice work. Definitely want to encourage you and your writing ability. I believe JH may have launched a writing career based in part on his membership here. No reason we cannot have many like-minded individuals do similar things here.

Also, I want to encourage you with baseball. Give it everything you got and let the chips fall where they may. It is fun and rewarding to try hard.
I look forward to reading your blog. And I encourage you to write about life and faith. I've always tried to teach my young players that baseball can teach you a lot about life.

If I may, I'd like to share one of these stories.

I recently read Josh Hamilton's book about his rise, fall and re-rise in baseball and in life. This Saturday night, my family and I were privileged to hear Josh and his wife speak at a local church.

Here's the story that struck me. Maybe a new take on the poem, Footprints.

Josh was working through a sober period yet slipped. One night he had a dream where he was fighting a well-dressed man. Josh would beat the man down with a baseball bat. The man would come back at him. Again, Josh would beat the man down with the bat. This went on and on, yet Josh was never able to finish the job. Eventually, he awoke from this nightmare.

A while after Josh had been clean and sober, he found himself having the same dream one night. Only this time, there was one glaring difference.

Same fight. Same well-dressed man. Same baseball bat used. Yet this time, Josh was successful in beating his aggressor.

He looked around to see what was different in this dream. Tonight, Jesus stood at his side.
