Corporate greed is indeed a factor in the problem - until we give the companies that hire these immigrants stiff enough penalties that it is actually cheaper to hire LEGAL employees we aren't going to see the problem dissappear.

It is a problem that has many roots. And yes, voting is IMPORTANT and NECESSARY for the majority of law abiding citizens to keep their country running the way it should.

However, pointing the finger at either party is foolish as the problem has been around long enough now that both parties have had their opportunities to correct it.

Yes, corporations "buy" their officials - but so does the average American when he "gives his two cents worth" but only when he gives it directly to the elected official in a formal manner, not when he complains to anyone who listens.

Have you written, called, e-mailed, or visited your local officials yet????

Remember - the guy with 2 million dollars still only has one vote. He may convince someone he can help him "buy" 2 million more - but two million letters from 2 million registered voters tells even the most savvy elected official where he is more likely to get those 2 million votes he needs.

Every letter does count. Especially when they add up in numbers

BBCoach1978 & AParent:

First, I did not indict one party. If you read my post again, you will see that I acused CONGRESS [which if I remember still includes both major parties and one Independent] and the sitting president of being corrupted by corporate America. This is not denied by either of you.

Second, BBCoach1978, since you brought it up so proudly I will simply say if you don't see it coming from the other party and I certainly don't see it coming from the party that stopped all other legislation in Congress for two days and brought the president back from vacation to pass unconstitutional legislation to halt a court ordered removal of artificial life support of ONE, get that number, ONE human being then what do you propose? Voting for the same party again or something different? Since you have voted for the same party the last 24 years I do not expect you to do anything different but if you are waiting for Jesus Christ to come back and run as a republican you will be waiting a long time. JMHO, of course.

TW344
Leaders of both parties have to come to grip this problem and work together to bring about some resolution...don't hold your breath though...the political climate is too volatile before the midterm elections for either side to commit one way or the other.

The cynical view is that the Republicans will hold out for what is best for business and the Democrats will keep angling for more votes from this growing, illegal, potential constituency.

We all have to demand that our elected representatives do what is best for us as a nation regardless of our party affiliation.

Suffice to say...whatever the outcome, there will be many, many dissapointed people...we have to accept this fact.

Nonetheless, we cannot let this issue tear us apart... we can all agree that would be senseless.

Some simple questions to ask of illegal alien supporters.

1. What other U.S. laws would you like to see unenforced? (or done away with?)

2. Do you favor open borders both North and South?

3. Can you guarantee that every illegal only wants to come to America for work and not
to harm this country?

4. Why does Mexico have extremely tight control of it's Southern border?

5. Will you guarantee that all 12 million plus illegals will register if granted amnesty?

6. What should be done to those who don't?

And to those who claim that the Southwest was stolen from Mexico and now they want it back-seems to me there are a few decendents of the Mayas and Aztecs who could make that
claim about Mexico and the Spanish who conquered them.

Of course that would take some logical thinking, wouldn't it? Don't let the facts get
in the way.

Now back to baseball Smile.
