AABC Mickey Mantle WS

The S Troy Dodgers lost their opening gaem at the MM World Series 4-3 in 11 innings. Its been an interesting week so far. No luggage arrived with the players, they could not compete in the skills competition, then day one gets rained out, follow that up with the marathon game this morning.. oh well. BAck at it tomorrow.

Kyle Charron started on the mound and went 4 innings before the heat got to him. Matt Nash came on in relief and pitched outstanding over the next 7 innings. Mike Mercurio and Tyler Rose both had big doubles to tie the game at 3 while Ty Donovan and Tyler Young joined Mercurio with multiple hits in the game.

The S Troy Dodgers eliminated the Fl Bombers today 8-3 in a crazy game. Mike Mercurio hit a 3 run homer in the 8th inning for the win. The catcher miss handled a strike out to end the game and the Dodgers went on to tie the game. This was a back breaker for a good team and great program

On a sad note Kyle Charron broke a bone in his leg after a collision at 2nd base early in the game. Derrick Horne pitched a great game for the Dodgers.

South Troy squares up against the host team from Texas at 10:00 this morning. Lets hope we swing the bats today...

In another nail biter, S Troy loses to the host Dallas team 5-4. A series of close games but the Dodgers left the bats at home. 7 Hits over the last 2 games.

Hi Coach . Thanks for the updates. Congrats on a great season. I was able to catch some of the games this year. I thought that Mike Petilli was one of the better pitchers on the year, but i did not see his name in the boxscores. Did he pitch in the world series?

No Mike didn't pitch at all. I guess from what I've been told he logged a LOT of innings in during the HS season and was complaining of a sore arm the last 3 weeks or so. He saw limited action in the state qualifier and then was shut down during the regional and the world series. He should take the rest of the summer off and work out to get stronger. Very nice kid with a gifted arm.

He Matt Nash and Rob Lacolla were our top 3 guys and we went the last 2 weeks with only Nash. Then KC got hurt and we were really paddeling upstream. It was however a great experience.

Coach, who would you say are the top prospects from this year's mickey mantle team. Are the Dodgers going to have a 17 year old team next year?
