Just watched a great game on ESPN+ between Oklahoma and Abilene Christian (AC). AC won on a walk off base hit in the bottom of the 10th in Arlington at the Rangers stadium. Two questions...
1) Anybody see the game?
2) Does anyone have knowledge of AC's program? e.g., What are their coaches are like? The type of kids they recruit, the school itself, etc.

There was a parent here a few years ago whose son attended as freshman. Coach put him on the mound a few times and burned his freshman year.
They are in the expanded WAC. Their roster is made up of a lot of JUCO and Transfers.
I watched the game, it was a nail biter at the end.
I know ACU pretty well. Maddox the Freshmen 3rd basemen (recruited as a catcher) played in my son's travel organization and they practiced together (all HS player practiced together on Sat and Sun) also saw each other in the local cages often and had some good chats. I have also talked with the closing pitcher Max (6'9 he is huge, calves like bowling balls LOL) a few times.
About 60% of this years roster are transfers. They went 4-2 in the WAC tournament last year. Think the have the chance to take the tournament this season, I think GCU should be their main competition in the 2023 tournament. They went 2-1 against them last year but lost to New Mexico state.
Have heard nothing but good things about the coaches. Just don't try to walk on there like most schools.
It is a highly ranked academic school. Small classes, kind of expensive (private school).

The ACU program is trending upwards and they are getting better players. And it’s a very conservative and well funded university. The facilities are good too. That’s the good news. The coaching staff there is different. They just are. They recruited my son 3 years ago and I spent enough time with them to get a feel for it. The RC Craig Parry (who I thought was the best coach on staff) just left before the start of this season and I don’t view that as positive. They recruit good kids but it’s not a program that’s for everybody.
