First off, in a good program, the V coach would be working with the JV coach on the program. Sounds like this is not a good program. Best the kid can do is get together with the varsity coach and find out what HE wants since the kid is working to get up to that level. Maybe the parent could talk with each seperately then together. If all else fails, find a good summer ball program.
The player asks for a meeting with both coaches at the same time. He says "Coach , Coach Smith is telling me to ______ and ________. Your teaching me to _______ and __________. I am confused on what you actually want me to be doing." In front of the player they are probably going to cover each other. When the player walks away they are going to get together and make sure they are working together on this. The HC if he is any coach at all is going to make sure the JV coach is teaching what he is teaching. No program can be successful if they are teaching their players two different ways to play the game.

If this doesnt work then the parent can ask for a meeting with the varsity coach and ask why they are teaching two different hitting mechanics in their program. They might be teaching the same thing but using different Ques to explain the exact same thing but this is confusing the player. In either case they need to be on the same page so the player can be as well.
