It's telecast live on Fox Sports Network this Saturday, noon Pacific, 3 Eastern, etc.

FYI, AFLAC relies on Perfect Game for the selections. It's almost entirely based on PG rankings, adjusted for positions. Some are chosen in advance before the spring HS season begins. Others are chosen after PG National.

You can read up on how PG gathers info at its showcases and from other scouting reports and opportunities. I guess anybody can criticize anything, but you have to have some sort of process somehow if you're going to do the event at all.
The selection process has produced 42 first round picks in four years. About half of all the players have been selected in the first 5 rounds the following year and many others are current college all americans.

Last year the selection process picked 13 players who went in the first round this past June. That's more than one out of every three Aflac All Americans. Can you imagine a high school game with 13 first rounders and 5 second rounders in it? That would have been the last Aflac All American game!

Also, most of these players have to be selected before their junior high school season is finished

People can question the process if they wish, but they can't question the results! Or at least, they shouldn't, unless they expect perfection!

Thanks for reminding me Sparky. I completely forgot that Bowden played in the AFLAC game. Now that I think of it I do remember him hitting like you said. It is too bad he didn't get to pitch! Those high school seasons do tend to be taxing on a pitcher's arm, don't they? I am a little bias and may feel that way because I prefer travel ball.
