Here is one for ya... Brian McCann, the catcher for Atlanta who just hit the 3 run HR for Atlanta, was born in the same year that Roger Clemens made his MLB debut.
That is amazing when you think about it...on about ten different levels...Imagine his parents - Mr. and Mrs. McCann right now and how they must feel...I wonder if their phone is ringing off the hook? They will probably float around without having their feet touch the ground for about two weeks
I remember Nolan Ryan saying that he knew he should be thinking about retirement when fans told him they had brought their sons to see him pitch....just as their father had brought them to see him . Some guys do have staying power!
Smokey - Last night's game was enjoyable to watch because of these differences. I don't have a favorite team, but like several teams including the Astros and the Braves. It's great to see the excitement and energy of a younger player that's just gotten to the bigs, but also enjoyable to see that experience and smoothness of a longtimer. I couldn't really decide who to cheer for.
