Do you think that amateur baseball will ever become a large enough blip on the radar screen to face the same problems that hoops and football are involved with now?

Once the agents start seeing money in it, yes.

I'm not sure since the MLB has a minor league system and a longer path to the league unlike the other sports mentioned. You will have a couple players such as your Strasberg, and Bryce Harper type players but I feel baseball will have a separation from those sports due to the minor league system in general. But there will be some influence but not to the same degree IMO.
