Weenie Man,

You're probably more in tune with the weak SICA East conference. The SICA Central is not that weak. Bremen a couple of years ago knocked off a "good" Richards squad to go to the Sectionals, and T.F. South has an excellent program; two years ago they were around 25 and 2 playing a tough schedule. Oak Forest has one of the toughest schedules around. They play every team from the old SICA West (Lockport, Stagg, Andrew, both Lincoln-Ways, Sandburg and Joliet. Last year they went 3 and 4 against those teams. Probably a better record than the team you support versus those same teams. Oak Forest also plays the likes of Brother Rice, Marist, Richards, Shepard, Reavis and Homewood Flossmoor. Not an easy schedule if you ask me.
i am very familiar with oak forests conference yes t.f. south is good every few years they had some great players come out of their a few years ago that are playing at some pretty legitamit college teams such as vinny calabrese-weber international- nick damas ssc marshal bound, shane zegarac- eku, joe panozzo- st. joe's, vince rizzi - grand valley state. Also kenny reynolds is a great firy coach. He is a real go getter. But once again neither team ever makes noise in the playoffs but yes i do agree solid programs but oak forest is overrated in that aspect. T.f. south and bremen never get any hype.
ihsa baseball, i think that your BOYS at sandburg and lockport are great. lockport once again a lil boost on the batting averages but they have had great players for many years. a lot of great talent comes out of there and those are 2 programs thatt make noise in the playoffs unlke the bengals of oak forest but oak forest is still a good program.
Well .... NCLB doesn't belong exclusively to G. Bush, but I will leave the politics out of the baseball forum.

If Bremen and OF are in the same district, they are both "failing" and if they aren't OF would have the option to say "NO" which they probably wouldn't if Coach Czar pulled some strings.

But it still goes back to transferring mid-year of your senior year. It is akin to a CPS kid "moving" a few blocks north/south/west and enrolling at a well-regarded public school just to get a diploma from there.
The no child left behind has nothing to do with the transfer rules the IHSA enforces.

If you go to the IHSA website (ihsa.org) and link to IHSA people and policies you can find the transfer rules in Section 3.040 of the IHSA constitution.

Basically the move would have to be because of a change in residence and both principals would have to give their approval.

No Child Left Behind does have something to do with transfer rules. If a school does not make a "sufficient" grade on the school report card a student has the option to go to another school within the district and attend that school. It's called a choice school. You do not have to be a title 1 school to except a student because at our school we have excepted students and we are not a title 1 facility. I agree I don't believe someone should leave a school at mid-term just to be on another team. There are characteristics such as loyalty and leadership involved. You don't want to be the first off of a sinking because you know what that means. Unless it is the right type of situation I don't believe Ronnie Czar would allow such a move.
Looking over the website where all these travel players are on different rosters and kids getting to jump from one team to another; monthly, annually, and sometimes weekly....Do you think this has an adverse effect on these players at a young age???? Does their ego get boosted just a little too much over the travel teams fighting over them? Just wondered....how everyone felt this constant shuffling of players in the summer effects a kids attitude when it comes to playing high school baseball, etc.?
Shouldn't a player have to sign a contract with these travel coaches to avoid all the "jumping around"...
Al Landini is a very good player and an even better person. Obviously the calibar of player Al is would definitely help out most programs however, I consider his coach a friend but more importantly I respect the job he does coaching his team and I would never allow a player to transfer in this type if situation. There are things such as school and community pride which often times are forgotten. These things are much more important than I have time to elaborate on. Good Luck Al this year and I hope it's your best yet. We and I will see you in the near future.
Some people have told me that the teams to beat in high school baseball are teams like Sandburg, Lockport and Oak Forest (in the south). How did these teams all do in the summer league and what type of team do they have coming into this season? What other teams will be tough this year? (I expect that there will be some private school teams that are going to be good also, which ones?)What teams are tough in the north and west areas? Is Clemente the cream of the crop in the city? I saw them play last year and they are very disciplined!

Sandburg will be very good again this year. They have more arms than 3-teams put together. Lockport will be down this year but how could double what they did last year; they will be solid to say the least. Oak Forest returns their top 4 pitchers from last year's squad. I saw some of the Clemente players in the Cangelosi Camp during the Fall; they are very good. They may have 3-4 D1 players; they are that talented. Whitney Young has a very good pitcher returning. He was a major factor in Whitney winning the Lincoln tournament. Brother Rice and St. Rita will be tough. I think every coach would like to have their draw in the tournament. They are almost guaranteed a Sectional Final just because they don't play anyone. Usually they have a forfeit for their first Regional game. Andrew is another team with lots of returning players. Kazmarek is awfully good.
