I have to say that I am not sad to see him go. Watching him stretch a double into a single got very old. While he is a good hitter, he is also a bad fielding second baseman. If the Rangers use the 10 million they will save by trading him on pitching, then I am all for it.
I think Wilkerson played college ball with one of the former Red Hawk (now Marshals) coaches. He was a high draft pick. But -- I can't believe we couldn't get a major league pitcher for Soriano.
Have no problem with the Soriano deal. He is a butcher defensively at 2nd. He hits great, but I believe the Rangers generally have that covered. The minor league pitcher they are getting is the best in the Nationals minor league organization. If they Rangers accumulate enough young arms, maybe a few will pan out.
