looking at jesuit and plano west success and this this list... just how good was mckinney boyd?

they lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Not familiar with some of the kids named. I am sure they deserved the award, if all of the coaches agreed. Congrats to all who received mentions

When will the All-District teams come out in the DMN? Does anyone know...or did I miss it already?

dmn shoots for within day after state finals Sunday to a week after the state finals..for all-area and first-team all-district leads.... sometimes other reasons can delay... but look at when dmn runs all-area softball as a precedent..

2nd place in dist 8-5a. 25-8. 5th in the area according to DMN. Lost 2 to Jesuit, beat west 2 outta 3 including a 13-3 run rule.

how far did McBoyd go in the playoffs?? Playoff success is what matters, not the little battles. If you are good, you go far in the playoffs.

Man Colleyville must have been really bad this year. And McKinney. And that Coppell team last year. I guess they were only good at those little battles. Wondering how McKinney's 1-2 did in this last draft?

the real question -

since all-district picks are not to be released until after all district teams have been elimianted form the playoffs, how and why was this list released?

Luck had nothing to do with it.They had a really good pitcher who beat 2 good teams in a one game play off.

the non-disclosure is sometimes invoked cause some don't want parents to get upset while playoffs are going on... but it's not a rule and there is some value in having the list out before everyone is out of school...

but it's mainly not to have johnny and his parent get mad while ur still in the playoffs cause they were second team and their coach might not have "fought" for them enough to be first team... u can't believe how much that happens...

but these are not the pentagon papers, but after 30 years covering high school sports, i have lots of friends in low places and I know what's of interest... for instance, I'm not chasing all-district 11-4A..

ON HONORABLE MENTION..
If you have a pulse, didn't really hack off the coach and played regularly at all in district games, you made the all-district honorable mention team
and I say that proudly as a one-time honorable mention list maker myself

learned to write OK.. but very fast... and it's one those skills lots think they're good doing, but like talking in front of a tv camera... brain lock sets in...more a reporter/recognizer of trends/connecting dots quickly why things happened

but i'm not a writer in the sense "I've got a book to write".. I have no stories, pretty boring.. the only adventure I could ever write about would be a Dave Barry-like story about the week I spent living with ESPN-Star-Telegram broadcaster-writer Randy Galloway at Rangers spring training two decades ago

From time to time we complain about inadequate HS baseball coverage in the Dallas Morning News ... maybe dallasblog has some pull and can get us more HS baseball coverage in the DMN.
