Train -- the lists are usually published once all teams from a district are eliminated from the playoffs -- and then at the discretion of the local newspapers. The complete lists are normally included when the Dallas Morning News prints the All-Area team in a special insert after the end of the season.

The D8-5A selections include:

Coach of the Year ------- Paul Pool, Allen
MVP --------------------- Michael Russo, Lewisville
MVP Pitcher ------------- Garret Carruth, Lewisville
Newcomer of the Year ---- Alex Yarbrough, Allen

What is even more amazing...from what I understand, he is actually a young freshman...if he wasn't "playing up" in 15U summer ball he would be league age 14. (last year he "played up" 2 years in summer ball - played 15U when he was 13U) Eek

Alex is a hard worker...I don't know him personally but he works out at the same indoor facility we do (we? - my son would chuckle at that). Alex is in the batting cages working on his hitting all the time!

Congrats to all the players that were recognized!

Thanks, the mighty Pirates are off to a 3-0 start. We won today 17-0 behind home runs from Tony Schifano (Arl. Martin '04, Brookhaven JC) and Bobby "Bubba" Jones (Flower Mound '04,Galveston JC). Brandon Foster (Henderson HS, Weatherford JC) got the win. Cassidy Carter (Lake Highlands, Texas State) and Chris Nezworski (FW Nolan, McLennan JC) had 3 and 4 hits respectively.

Mighty Pirates play tomorrow at Reverchon Park at 3pm.
According to Southlake's baseball web site, the following Dragons received all district recognition:

Chase Reid - MVP

1st Team

Patrick Green - Pitcher
James Allen - 2B
Zak Presley - OF

2nd team

Carlos Reyes - SS
Matt Bauer - OF

Congrats to these players, especially Chase! FD son looks forward to playing with him this summer. BTW, I've heard of other selections but have not seen anything 'offical' other than this release.

If my father were alive he would call the UIL on you for leaving me off the all-web team. My coach should have done a better job of promoting me. Anyway, back from Mickey Land. Didn't pick up a cell phone or lap top for 6 days. By the way South Florida kids can go. I don't know if they were 10, but they can go.

I've tried to lay low and keep my nose clean and just try to take care of business "between the lines". Considering I'm a freshman webber with only 154 posts, I am both humbled and honored to be recognized. Big Grin Coach Train was hard on all of us but I think we are all better today because of it. Cool

Also, I would like to respectfully nominate Old-bat Never as the team cheerleader - she always has a positve word when "we" achieve on the field.

I would like to thank everyone for voting me Coach of the Year. I am so blessed and excited to recive such an award by this panel. applaude

I plan on receiving this award in Colorado at the end of the tournament. DBAT GM I wish you would be around to present it to me but I am sure your train left days before the tournament ended. Big Grin

I won't get started on the cheerleader (OBN) comment but I like it!!!
greenjump Defensive Player of the Year ~

I didn't even know there was a forum team.

Just goes to prove, "You Never Know Who's Watching".

On another note, Yea ole to Lackie (not Lackey, Lacky) and to McK North. I'm so happy for these guys and all the others that I don't know! What a great honor for these boys! Way to go.

Once again to quote the great FO ~ "Fun, ain't it!"

I'm not really allowed to devulge the entire process but Def POY award came as a result of your always caring heart that goes out to the posters that might be getting a little heat from others concerning their opinions. How's that for a run on sentence? Cool BTW schools out today ~ don't expect me to keep up the proper grammer during the summer.

Some might argue that decision with you and your committee.worm

Oh, and to my coach...Coach Train...just give me the ball and you will have no worries!!! You are the coach, it is your call, 1 game, or 2 out of 3. To me, it doesn't matter. I know what's coming, the hitter don't. I'm on higher ground firing the projectile at a person standing still with a stick! baseball4

I have the edge! Mad You want me on that wall, you need me on that wall!!! Let's play some ball!!! Big Grin

I would say most improved; With that said. Everybody has improved since P-diddy became the
new Judge/Jury and executioner in town. Big Grin

But then again in fear of loosing my privelege to post. I will agree P-Dad; Award him the most "Offensive".. Wink
