I have been wondering why in this state there is not an all star team established for tournament play in every division.
It would take some benefactor of course. Money is always an issue in baseball. Maybe the pro teams, localities, the state and/or sports organizations could involve themselves in the financial support of the players. No non player or coach should be paid for their participation.
After seeing East Cobb dominating national tournaments, Florida is losing its reputation as a breeding ground for the finest baseball talent.
I see players from many winning teams spread across the many organization teams but not all together on one near invincible team. I even noticed that the Tampa Colt World Series team was not intact in the Ft Myers wood bat tournament.
I would think that a computer selection process would be the most fair. There is far too much abuse of the selection process for all star teams in Florida. Results would be the barometer. Not height, not relationships, not potential, not financial status. Only measurement of results of play.
Professing to be the home of the finest baseball players in the nation is not enough. As any good coach will advise you, don't tell me how good you are, show me.
