A couple thoughts on the last couple All-Star days.....

1) The Rod Carew / Tony Gwynn award for the highest batting avg in each League is a great thing.  Well done Manfred & Co.

2) Glad to see Red Sox Boegarts, Bradley & Betts do extremely well at the plate and Nationals players (Harper, Scherzer, and Murphy) do well.  Jackie Bradley Jr.  is a local Richmond, Virginia kid, and I'm excited for him to be having a great year.

3) I'm not sure why Red Sox knuckleball pitcher Steven Wright did not face a batter, or Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg 12-0.  Mets Coach Terry Collins decision to start Cueto (not Strasberg in his home town of San Diego) has me shaking my head and asking questions.  Not only did Collins not start Strasberg he didn't make an appearance at all.  I'd like to know why.

4) The standing ovation for Big Papi when he was taken out of the game was incredible.  Some may be critical for leaving him in, but I think it was the right time and the right situation to get that ovation that he deserves.

5) Giancarlo Stanton hits a baseball like it has never been hit before.  Watching him in the Home Run Derby was incredible.  Everything was a blast.

I used to live in San Diego. This is another in a long line of articles about "how great we are even though we suck." After another San Diego team loses the people make fun of the opposing teams fans for not living in San Diego. It's real small lime thinking. The weather is nice. But San Diego sophistication wise is Nebraska by the Sea. I got so tired of being made fun of for being from LA. "Your Dodfers may beat us all the time. But you live in LA. Ha Ha Ha." Yes, it was awful living right on the beach in Redondo. I would have much rather lived in El Cajon.
