That was amazing video; never seen a 5 yr old do what that kid was doing. Even the coach was humming the ball in live BP and the kid ripped it.

Probably still too young for a coach/adult to mess him up.LOL

Gonna show this to my hot shot HS players; known them all since that age and NONE of them were as good as this kid with the bat or glove. Then again they are all 17/18 now and have survived in the game so far...hope to be able to say the same of this young man in 2020.

Would have to agree with you Brickhouse. On a few occasions he stepped across the plate after he swung and I was a little worried the next pitch would nail him. Maybe someone here can give his parents a little tip and suggest he wear a helmet. Cool
Must admit though, the youngster has some tools for his age.

As long as he never plays T-ball the kid will maintain his natural swing, hand eye coordination and eye for contact.
My son started hitting off the pitching machine at age three at his sister's (five years older) softball practices. When he would hit off the tee he would twist and torque up. He was too young to understand how to hit off a tee properly. Fortunately he didn't want to play tee ball when he was six. He preferred hitting and shagging balls at his sister's 12U travel softball practices.
Well, he sure is a slugger that is for sure.
Helmet-mandatory. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind letting a five year old bat against an 85 mph FB.
As far as him taking swings against an 85mph pitch, maybe at some other time, but on the video, the velo was not 80-85 mph, the cage is labeld at 75/baseball - 65/softball and also states "ALL PATRONS MUST WEAR A HELMET" Hit at your own risk.
Slightly irresponsibileFrown
He is amazing though!

I agree with you that it is not 85, it is not even 75.

But still good for his age and size. Hopefully he develops properly as he has many mechanical challenges that he is going to have to over come from his habits that he is developing.
