I assume it's NAIA?
Just curious as to some opinions on a program that starts from scratch?
Dear 13LHPdad,
We will play as an Independent the first year. We will decide after first year to go into the NAIA or NCAA and become affliated. I hope this helps.
Lefthookdad,
What opinions? We are starting new Baseball Program from the ground up at a 4 year University in Southern California. Our schedule will primarily be D3.
Simple, I was curious as to the boards opinion on a start up program......do they think it is a good opportunity, are they skeptical about having their kid play on such a team, would they prefer to wait a couple of years to see how the team develops and what direction the coach/team are headed in, how successful/competitive have other programs been during their first couple of season....all of which, I think, are valid topics concerning such a program and this board, after all this is a discussion board.
Will your program offer baseball scholarships? If so are you fully funded?
FWIW, I like the idea of being involved in an upstart program. The idea/opportunity of laying the foundation of a program for a school is awesome. Question is, do a lot of players think that way? I just wish you guys were in the FL!
Is your college accreditated?

Thanks, I appreciate the information.
No! We are 6 months into accreditation process with WASC. Only University In USA to offer all degrees in sports Industry.

You have to look at the track record of the people behind the program and the money they put into facilities relative to the level they expect to play. Do you think anyone doubted Coach Horton when he left Fullerton to start the program at Oregon?
Charging for tryouts? Are the tryouts only for enrolled students?
OWC,
We have a participation fee for each walk on tryout for all our sports. No budget to start out with. Sports programs are funded by percent of paid tuition by the student athlete. (liability insurance, facility lease, equipment) participation fee cover these expenses. Most new schools that venture into sports start out this way.
Walk on Tryouts are for non-enrolled students
What would a student do with a degree from a non accredited university? This might sound pesimistic but I have to worry about the dark side of what can happen if I was going to refer a player and then you do not get accreditation.
